Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and licensed Lead Installer (Subcontractor) specializing in elevator interiors to perform installation services on a contract basis. This role requires a self-sufficient professional who provides their own tools, transportation, and labor support, and delivers high-quality craftsmanship in accordance with project specifications.

Responsibilities / Functions

• Install elevator interior components (walls, ceilings, flooring, handrails, panels, etc.) based on custom designs and blueprints.
• Read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and work orders independently.
• Provide and manage a qualified helper/assistant as needed to complete installations efficiently.
• Supply and safely operate all necessary hand and power tools required for the scope of work.
• Ensure precise fit and finish of materials, including cutting, trimming, aligning, and securing panels and finishes.
• Perform site preparation, protection of existing finishes, and job site cleanup.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with project managers, customers, and other trades on-site.
• Follow all safety protocols and adhere to site-specific requirements (PPE, access rules, etc.).
• Maintain all tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and professional manner.
• Document installation progress and report any issues, discrepancies, or deviations from plans promptly.
• Ensure all work meets company quality standards and applicable code requirements.

Subcontractor Requirements

• Must be a licensed contractor (as required by state/local regulations).
• Must carry valid general liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage (if applicable).
• Must provide own tools, equipment, and installation materials (unless otherwise specified).
• Must have a reliable work vehicle/van suitable for transporting materials and tools.
• Responsible for hiring, managing, and compensating own helper(s).
• Responsible for all taxes, insurance, and compliance as an independent contractor.

Skills & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in elevator interiors, millwork, finish carpentry, or related field.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces and at varying heights.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Willingness to travel to job sites (local and regional); overnight travel may be required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
• Demonstrates strong awareness of health and safety protocols.

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

• Experience working with stainless steel, wood veneer, laminate, or decorative metal panels.
• Knowledge of elevator code compliance (e.g., ASME A17.1).
• OSHA 10/30 certification or equivalent safety training.
• Familiarity with digital measuring tools and laser levels.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Information

• Typical project hours: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday – Thursday (may vary by project).
• Work is primarily performed at project installation sites.
• Overtime and weekend work may be required depending on project schedules.
• Job sites may include hazardous conditions; appropriate protective gear must be worn at all times.
