Medical Scheduler / Healthcare Appointment Scheduler

REMOTE

Long term contract

The Medical Scheduler is responsible for coordinating patient appointments, managing physician calendars, handling patient inquiries, and ensuring smooth scheduling operations within a healthcare facility. The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and knowledge of healthcare scheduling systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments.
  • Coordinate appointments for physicians, specialists, and diagnostic services.
  • Verify patient information, insurance details, and referral requirements.
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to patient scheduling inquiries.
  • Maintain and update electronic medical records (EMR/EHR).
  • Ensure accurate appointment documentation and follow-up reminders.
  • Coordinate with medical staff regarding availability and urgent appointments.
  • Handle patient check-in/check-out scheduling support when required.
  • Manage waitlists and optimize appointment utilization.
  • Follow HIPAA and healthcare privacy regulations.

Required Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare processes.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
