Process Engineer - Plastics Manufacturing (Film and Compounding) - Base Salary to 110k/year - Los Angeles, CA

  • Our client, a plastic film manufacturing organization, is seeking a Process Engineer to support production operations, process optimization, and new product development within a manufacturing environment. This role is highly hands-on and requires direct involvement on the production floor to support process improvements and equipment performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct processing trials including film extrusion, polymer compounding, and physical testing, followed by detailed technical reporting
  • Optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, product quality, and throughput during production and new product launches
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce scrap, minimize setup time, and lower production costs
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to production teams for troubleshooting and process stability
  • Support equipment upgrades, process modifications, and new equipment installations
  • Participate in process validation and product qualification activities
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve production issues
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, and trial protocols

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Engineering or related field) or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 7+ years of experience in plastics manufacturing, specifically within one or more of the following:
    • Polymer compounding
    • Film extrusion
    • Plastics or polymer processing
  • Demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing/production environment with direct floor involvement
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies
  • Experience performing process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to create technical documentation including process procedures, reports, and validation protocols
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation

Compensation:

  • Base salary in the 85k - 110k/year range
