Job description

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Laboratory Technician

Location: Oak Bluffs, MA 02557

Shift: Day/night

Pay Rate: $2200/ - $2300/weekly, $47/hr - $50/hr

Contract Duration: 13 weeks + probable extension


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing accurately and efficiently using established procedures.
  • Collect blood specimens using venipuncture, capillary, and pediatric collection techniques.
  • Review test results and logs for technical or clerical errors.
  • Generate complete, accurate, and timely laboratory reports.
  • Verify, report, and document critical/alarm values promptly.
  • Perform and review Quality Control (QC) procedures.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) activities.


Required Qualifications

  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) qualification.
  • Strong laboratory testing and specimen collection experience.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture, capillary, and pediatric blood collection.
  • Experience with quality control, equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Flexibility to work overnight shifts and respond to emergency staffing needs.
  • Reliable attendance and availability for on-call responsibilities.


Required Certification

  • Current Influenza (Flu) Vaccination is required.
