The Upstream Field Application Specialist is responsible for partnering with customers and sales teams to identify, design and deliver customized hardware demonstrations, process simulations, and proof of concept applications to clearly articulate value and differentiate solutions that directly address customer needs and drive business outcomes.

This position reports to the Genomic Medicine Field Application Leader and is part of the Cytiva Genomic Medicine Operating Company working remotely to cover Southeast and North Central US territory.

What you will do:

  • Translates customer requirements into product and application recommendations for Cytiva's upstream product portfolio, including iCellis, Xcellerex XDR and X platform, and WAVE bioreactor systems while ensuring the alignment with both technical specifications and commercial goals.

  • Work closely with customers to optimize workflows and maximize the performance and impact of deployed solutions for bioreactor users, this includes expert technical support such as troubleshooting and extended onsite process-related problem solving.

  • Engages customers through on-site visits, industry events, and though leadership sessions to build customer confidence in decision-making process. Documents insights, recommendations, and results through detailed reports, equipping sales teams with the information needed to move opportunities forward and close business.

  • Provides strategic technical guidance to remove barriers, strengthen value propositions, and increase win probability. This includes preparing and executing standard and custom courses, delivering lectures and hands on lab training, and contributing to the development and continuous improvement of course materials and practical exercises.

Who you are

  • BS Degree in Life Science (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry) or Engineering and must have at least 3 years of post-bachelor working experience in a Biotech, Pharma, or Academic lab with hands-on experience in cell culture process development and scale up producing viral vectors

  • Have technical knowledge in workflow processes for viral vectors (AAV, lentivirus, oncolytic virus, etc.) and/or nucleic acid (plasmid, mRNA, circular RNA, etc.)

  • Proven team player with a customer mindset and an ability to work effectively in cross-functional manner as well as independently to achieve commercial success

  • Experienced problem-solver with polished presentations skills - ability to resolve complex problems, communicate issues and propose solutions to both external customers and internal team members. Know how to read an audience during a presentation, and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products.

  • Able to produce a well written scientific paper or report, draw a proper scientific conclusion and provide recommendation based on data.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role

  • Ability to travel overnight up to 50-75% of the time.

  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and a valid passport to travel out of country.

  • Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 50 lbs.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Advance degree and experience in development of bio-therapeutic molecules used in genomic medicine applications

  • Hands-on experience of Cytiva's Upstream product range

  • Experience with single-use mixers

The annual salary ranges this role is US $110,000 - $120,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
