A/V Technician

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Director of A/V Productions

Your Impact

The A/V Technician role is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of A/V equipment in various settings including meetings, conferences, events, educational spaces and more. This role ensures that audio, video, and lighting systems work effectively to support positive customer experience and outcome. The technician will also troubleshoot technical issues, manage equipment inventory, and provide on-site support for events.

A Glimpse of What You'll Do

  • Order preparation, transporting, setting up, and disassembling of A/V equipment
  • Operate audio systems, microphones, video systems, projectors, screens, lighting systems, and cameras during events
  • Troubleshoot all A/V system components in demanding situations
  • Assemble equipment, racks, and cables in an organized fashion
  • Ability to read diagrams, drawings, and event orders to accurately meet client specifications for equipment placement and functionality
  • Responsible for inventory management, maintenance, repairs, and QC of equipment
  • Oversee large scale events as lead technician to ensure timely and quality solutions are provided
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and event coordinators to produce repeat business and trust

What You Bring

  • An advanced level of technical A/V skills in large scale environments
  • In depth understanding of the following:
    • Operating digital audio consoles and routing
    • Operating multi-input video switchers, distribution
    • DMX lighting consoles, intelligent lighting fixtures, patching
    • Basic knowledge of integrated audio, video, and control systems
    • Basic knowledge of A/V Networking, A/V over IP
  • Technical certifications related to field, and/or equivalent technical knowledge preferred
    • Qsys (Level 1 and above)
    • Crestron (Flex and above)
    • Dante (Level 2 and above)
  • Team player who thrives in fast-paced, detail-oriented environments
  • Clear and concise communicator with team and clients
  • Self-starter, able to work efficiently without direct supervision
  • Ability to analyze and solve situations for future problem prevention
  • Maintain professionalism and quality decision making in high stress situations to ensure customer confidence
  • Four years of experience with large-scale A/V systems, including design, installation, engineering, and troubleshooting

  • Days and hours may vary; evening and weekend work will be required depending on the needs of the business
  • This position operates 75% of the job functions in the field at customer site
  • Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected
  • Frequently required to lift or move up to 75 pounds
