About the Role & Team

Are you a commercial diver interested in helping to maintain animal habitats while working for the Walt Disney Company? As a Water Sciences Dive Technician, you will take part in the nightly commercial diving operation of Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park's animal pools. You will ensure adherence to strict water quality guidelines which is the basis of our Aquatic Animal Health Program. In this role, you will be working overnight hours.

In this Full-Time, hourly role, you will report to the Dive Manager.

What You Will Do
  • Provide topside support for all dive teams by setting up dive stations

  • Perform dive equipment testing of Dive Rigs, Deck whips, and other equipment

  • Maintain equipment inventory and the Log Book on dive equipment and non-diving equipment

  • Set up dive stations, desludging pumps, and hoses

  • Dive, perform tending, and act as the Dive Station Operator, Standby Diver and DPIC

  • Nightly diving and pool cleaning

  • Work 3rd shift, overnight hours

Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Commercial Diving Certification

  • A valid U.S. Driver's License

  • Previous facilitation and presentation experience

  • Comfort working underwater for long periods of time

  • Desire to implement best practices, with focus on streamlined procedures and standardization where applicable

  • Talent for developing partnerships and work with all team members in the organization

  • Pass Disney's annual dive physical

  • Comfort with heavy lifting up to 50lbs

  • Previously performed at least 30 working dives on surface supplied air

  • Proficiency in basic computer functions to operate in a Windows environment and other technologies

  • Availability to include weekends, variable shifts, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications
  • ADCI Surface Supplied Diver Certification

Education
  • High school diploma, or equivalent 3 years of directly related experience

  • Completed a formal course of instruction at a recognized commercial diving school, military training, or equivalent consisting of at least 625 hours of instruction in surface supply diving

  • Must have a documented Log Book or equivalent
