Job description

Job Summary:

            Performs repairs to Forestry Heavy Equipment at customer locations. Performs standard work order assignments (i.e., troubleshooting, diagnostics, major component change outs, and preventive maintenance), without supervision, according to customer and company needs. Technician is assigned a company service truck and may be dispatched from different locations.
Requirements/ Qualifications:

·         High School Diploma, state-approved High School Equivalency, or GED
·         Maintain a valid driver’s license and have the ability to operate company service trucks under DOT regulations
·         Strong interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills
·         Ability to operate heavy equipment
·         High level of dexterity 
·         Possess basic computer skills with the ability to operate Microsoft, and other job specific software.
·         Ability to provide personal tools per company tool policy. (Will discuss during interview)
·         Travel is required, including overnight with the need to adapt to flexible schedules.
·         Physical effort to move objects and tools that may weight up to 100 pounds, frequent squatting, kneeling, and bending.
·         Ability to work overtime to support customer needs.
·         Ability to read, write, and comprehend technical service manuals, drawings, and prints.
·         Must be able to write in detail all repairs performed onto customer work order before leaving repair site.
·         Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.
·         Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.
·         Ability to work cooperatively and communicate efficiently. 
·         Appropriate manner, conduct, and grooming adhere to company policy. 
Essential Functions:

·         Provide customer with safe, timely, productive repairs
·         Familiar with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
·         Basic diagnostic computer knowledge
·         Maintain an annual repair efficiency of 90%
·         Maintain a maximum annual rework of less than 3%
·         Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, test and adjust assemblies 
·         Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs
·         Operate and move equipment being repaired as needed
·         Order and return parts as required by Work Order
·         Completion of paperwork in timely manner
·         Write accurate and legible Service Reports, read, and comprehend drawings, service manuals, electrical schematics, and technical data.
·         Uses proper testing equipment for troubleshooting and diagnostics
·         Projects positive company image to colleagues, vendors, and customers
·         Follows all work safety rules and procedures
·         Control and maintain a safe work area
·         Keep truck organized & clean (inside and out)
·         Owns and maintains personal tools
·         Occasional use of welding equipment
·         Travel to remote locations
·         Performs other duties and work assignments as directed
