Employee Type: RegularA Dragline Technician performs inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and fabrication on draglines and their associated support equipment. This role requires deep mechanical expertise, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. The Dragline Technician is responsible for ensuring optimal performance and reliability of dragline systems.

Job Description:

Essential Duties:

  • Ability to perform and report inspections of equipment and record data in forms, books, and computers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of reading and interpreting technical manuals, instructions, and equipment blueprints and schematics.
  • Willingness to use aerial lifting equipment to make elevated repairs.
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting abilities of air compressors and lube systems.
  • Must perform all job functions in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Use of mechanical tooling and test instruments.
  • Accurate assessment of mechanical breakdowns.
  • Understanding of bearing, gearing, and drive components.
  • Weld all metals and understand metal properties.
  • Read and understand blueprints with the ability to assemble and fabricate parts from them.
  • Operate boom trucks, welding trucks, and forklifts.
  • Perform all phases of welding and cutting.
  • Locate and repair cracks in metal parts and structural members.
  • Perform assigned duties with little or no supervision.
  • Appropriate knowledge of occupational hazards and apply necessary safety precautions to perform assigned work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Fluency in English is preferred, Bi-lingual is a plus.
  • Five years of verifiable experience in heavy equipment maintenance is preferred.
  • Knowledge of all phases of welding, cutting, air arcing, grinding, and an understanding of metal properties.
  • Knowledge of machine assemblies, bearings, gearing, seal, and rebuilding gear trains.
  • Knowledge and skill of millwright and pipe fitter procedures.
  • Must be able to operate company vehicles while maintaining a valid driving record (MVR) in good standing.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a CDL license.

Non-Essential but Advantageous Skills:

  • Knowledge of AC and DC circuits and motors for maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
  • Install wiring, switches, relays, and control system.

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Mechanical or Electrical technical training in vocational school or equivalent experience.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Prior dragline maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience in heavy equipment maintenance a plus.
  • Practical knowledge of welding equipment and repair (certification preferred).
  • Clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record).
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and weekends.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
