Job description

A Little About
Oats Overnight is on a mission to build a generational CPG brand. Since 2016, our high-protein, drinkable oatmeal has reached over a million customers through direct-to-consumer, and we're now scaling with all major nationwide retail and club partners. Our goal: become a household brand by leveraging speed, storytelling, and strategy.
We are vertically integrated: we develop, manufacture, and fulfill everything in-house. This operational control allows us to engage customers directly into the R&D process, an initiative where we were first-to-market in CPG. It also makes our brand tangible and real: our factory, our team, and our product pipeline are all part of the narrative.
This is an exciting stage, we are emerging as a significant omni-channel brand and launching new products to capture significant market share across verticals. We want you to help us get there.
Every teammate here has equity because we're building something big, and everyone plays an important role. If you're excited about building a brand that does things differently, this is that opportunity.
What's The Job
We're hiring a Commercial Finance Manager to be the financial backbone of our retail and club business. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you'll own customer- and channel-level P&Ls, bring rigor to our trade investment and pricing decisions, and partner directly with Sales, Supply Chain, and Marketing to grow profitable revenue.
This is a builder's seat. Our retail business is scaling fast and the finance infrastructure underneath it is still being stood up. You'll define how we measure customer profitability, how we evaluate trade ROI, and how commercial decisions get pressure-tested, then you'll use those tools to make us measurably more profitable. If you want a high-ownership, high-impact role at a profitable, well-capitalized brand, this is it.
What You'll Be Doing, Stop Scanning and Read This Part
Customer & Channel P&L Ownership
• Build, own, and continuously improve customer-level P&Ls across the retail and club channels - Costco, Sam's Club, Walmart, Target, and other key accounts - from gross sales through trade, COGS, and net contribution.
• Establish channel-level profitability views that let leadership see, clearly and consistently, where we make money and where margin is leaking.
• Pressure-test and validate every input into the commercial P&L - volume, price, mix, trade, and cost - and serve as the trusted financial voice in customer strategy discussions.
• Develop volume/price/mix variance analyses that explain revenue and profit movements in language commercial partners can act on.
Trade & Revenue Growth Management
• Own the financial evaluation of trade spend: plan, track, and assess promotional and trade investment, and quantify ROI by customer, event, and tactic.
• Drive measurable improvement in trade spend efficiency - identifying low-return promotions, reallocating investment toward what works, and partnering with Sales to reshape promo plans.
• Support sales operations with gross-to-net mechanics including deductions and disputes, and improve how we forecast trade.
Pricing & Commercialization Support
• Provide the financial lens on pricing decisions: list price changes, customer-specific pricing, and margin bridges across channels.
• Support commercialization of new items and customer launches with clear item-level profitability and gross-to-net modeling.
Reporting Infrastructure
• Stand up reliable, repeatable customer P&L and trade reporting - moving us from ad hoc spreadsheets toward a scalable, trusted source of truth.
• Build dashboards and scorecards that put customer and channel profitability in front of decision-makers on a regular cadence.
• Establish a live connection between sales forecasting tools and the financial forecast, so commercial demand signals flow directly into the P&L and projections stay current.
• Partner with Finance leadership and data partners to integrate ERP, trade, and syndicated data into a coherent reporting layer.
• Support ongoing maintenance and enhancement of FP&A tools.
Cross-Functional Partnership
• Work directly with Sales & Account teams - embedding in customer planning, joint business planning, and negotiation prep as their go-to finance partner on profitability.
• Align with Marketing & Brand on promotional planning and spend efficiency across channels.
• Serve as a key thought partner to the VP of Finance, translating commercial activity into financial insight for leadership.
• Other duties as assigned.
What You've Done and Who You Are
• 4+ years of experience in commercial finance, FP&A, trade finance, pricing, or revenue growth management - ideally within CPG, food & beverage, or a comparable consumer products environment.
• Direct experience with retail and/or club channel customers (e.g., Costco, Sam's Club, Walmart, Target) and a working understanding of trade dynamics, customer negotiations, and promotional structures.
• Demonstrated ownership of customer or channel P&Ls and trade investment analysis.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills - you build clean, durable models others can rely on.
• Comfort with BI/visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, or Power BI) to turn data into accessible reporting.
• Familiarity with trade/RGM platforms and syndicated data (e.g., Confido, SPINS, Circana/Nielsen); experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
• Strong grasp of gross-to-net mechanics, volume/price/mix variance, and the levers of customer and channel profitability.
• Someone that can partner and influence at all different levels.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and navigate in a fast-moving environment.
• A relentless drive to get things done.
• Flexible, willing, and quick to learn new processes, new technology, and new ways of thinking.
Why You Might Like Working Here
• This is going to be fun.
• Casual, friendly culture. We're serious about what we do but we don't take ourselves too seriously.
• Every employee has equity.
• High growth potential with opportunities to expand.
• Free oatmeal. It's very good.
Why You Might Not Like Working Here
• It's not a cushy job, the bar is high.
• We are growing quickly, and have a fast-paced work environment.
Our Core Values
• Ownership - We are all owners. We show up with passion and accountability in everything we do. If something's broken, fix it or call it out.
• Rational - How we decide matters. We focus on what we can control and make high-quality decisions repeatedly.
• Iterative - We challenge the status quo and improve constantly. When data or situations change, we adapt.
• Curiosity - We ask questions, even when it's uncomfortable. Learning and leading go hand in hand.
Physical Demands
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• You must be able to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
• You must be able to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
The Perks
• Full Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401k.
• Parental Leave.
• 4 Weeks of paid time off.
• Weekly Pay.
• Stock options - every employee is an owner.
• Free, delicious oatmeal.
And last but never least...
We value people who roll up their sleeves and support their fellow team members. We embrace diversity and encourage equal opportunity every chance we get, and we look forward to learning from people whose backgrounds, skills, and perspectives challenge and enrich our own.
