Job description

Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center in Jacksonville, Florida is seeking an experienced Medical Director / Physician Leader to help guide the clinical vision and continued growth of a nationally aligned, research-driven oncology program.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-impact leadership role within a premier cancer center affiliated with MD Anderson Cancer Center, while maintaining a meaningful part-time clinical practice.

 Position Overview

The Medical Director will serve in a dyad leadership model alongside the Vice President of Operations, providing clinical leadership across Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center and supporting oncology strategy across the Baptist Health system.

This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Lead the clinical direction of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer program

  • Align care delivery with nationally recognized MD Anderson protocols and standards

  • Expand clinical research, trials, and academic collaboration

  • Drive program growth across disease-site specialties

  • Maintain a part-time clinical practice

The practice environment is primarily outpatient within a comprehensive cancer center, with collaboration across inpatient settings and system-wide services.

 Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and advance the clinical vision and strategic priorities of the cancer center

  • Provide oversight of physician performance, disease-site programs, and care delivery models

  • Implement and monitor evidence-based clinical pathways, quality metrics, and outcomes reporting

  • Foster collaboration across oncology, surgical, and specialty teams

  • Partner with operational leadership on program development, growth strategy, and financial performance

  • Lead physician recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, and leadership development

  • Expand clinical research participation and patient access to trials

  • Advance innovation through digital health, analytics, and EMR optimization

 Qualifications
  • MD or DO

  • Board Certified in Oncology or related specialty

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience (e.g., Medical Director, Division Chief, Program Director)

  • Proven ability to lead physician teams and drive measurable clinical outcomes

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and strategic leadership skills

  • Eligible for an unrestricted Florida Medical License and DEA
