Job description

We are looking for an Order Picker (Cherry Picker) responsible to ensure an accurate and timely course of products. The cherry picker is a lift-assist device that raises the operator up to 30 feet in the air to access product locations throughout the warehouse. The role requires comfort with heights and strong attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a cherry picker (order picker lift) to access inventory located at various height levels throughout the warehouse (up to 30 feet).
  • Utilize advanced technology, including devices equipped with scanning capabilities, to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of order picking.
  • Execute accurate and timely order picking based on pick lists, ensuring the correct quantity and product are selected.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures while operating the order picker, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on the order picker and report any malfunctions or issues.
  • Ensure the quality of picked and transported materials, reporting any damaged goods or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
  • Collaborate with other team members, supervisors, and management to ensure effective communication and coordination of warehouse activities.
  • Meet and exceed Unit Per Hour (UPH) targets for each picking channel, ensuring productivity goals are consistently achieved.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures while operating the order picker, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Maintain an organized and clean picking area.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Proven experience as an order picker or other warehouse position
  • Experience or license in handling order pickers, forklifts, pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment
  • Experience in RF devices
  • Ability to perform basic math functions.

Physical Requirements

  • Work regularly to lift and/or move objects 10-30 lbs; occasionally, with team support, lift and/or move objects greater than 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time including stair climbing
  • Frequent bending, stooping, squatting and kneeling are required to retrieve and stock products at various heights.
  • May be required to climb ladders or stairs to access products stored on higher shelves.
  • Is comfortable navigating heights in an order picker (cherry picker) machine.
  • Capable of performing repetitive tasks, such as packing, sorting, or labeling, with efficiency and attention to detail. 
  • Must be able to tolerate fluctuations in facility temperatures
  • Must be able to tolerate an occasional high noise volume environment that includes speakers, fans, moving racks and conveyor belts.
