Job description

Warehouse Associate/Delivery Driver

Established in 1951, SPS Companies, Inc. is a wholesale distributor of products and services for residential and commercial plumbing, mechanical, and industrial piping, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and fire protection. We currently have seven plumbing locations across Minnesota, North Dakota, and Colorado. In addition to plumbing and heating, we also have fire protection and roofing/sheet metal divisions. As an Employee Owned Company (ESOP), our employees have a vested interest in SPS and its success.

The Warehouse Associate/Delivery Driver plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of warehouse activities and the timely delivery of goods within the wholesale trade industry. This position requires managing inventory through accurate order entry and maintaining the warehouse environment to support smooth logistics operations. The role involves operating forklifts safely to move and organize products, ensuring that all items are handled with care and stored properly. Additionally, the delivery driver component requires planning and executing delivery routes to meet customer schedules while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. Ultimately, this position contributes to customer satisfaction by ensuring products are accurately processed, stored, and delivered on time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certification or proven experience in forklift operation.
  • Basic computer skills with experience in order entry or inventory management systems.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with warehouse work.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in wholesale trade or a related logistics environment.
  • Familiarity with warehouse safety standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with route planning software or GPS navigation tools.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment to load, unload, and move inventory safely and efficiently.
  • Perform daily warehouse maintenance tasks including cleaning, organizing, and inspecting storage areas to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • Accurately enter and process orders into the inventory management system to track product movement and availability.
  • Prepare and verify shipment documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Plan and execute delivery routes, ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods to customers across assigned regions.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to coordinate inventory flow and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance needs to ensure delivery vehicles are in good working condition.

The required skills such as forklift operation, warehouse maintenance, and order entry are essential for daily tasks including moving inventory safely, maintaining an organized warehouse, and ensuring accurate tracking of products. Forklift operation skills enable the associate to handle heavy pallets and materials efficiently, reducing the risk of damage or injury. Warehouse maintenance skills contribute to a clean and safe working environment, which supports overall operational efficiency. Order entry skills are used to input and verify customer orders accurately, facilitating smooth inventory management and timely fulfillment. Preferred skills like route planning and knowledge of safety regulations enhance the delivery driver's ability to execute efficient and compliant deliveries, improving customer satisfaction and operational reliability.

This is a full-time position. Shifts typically range from 8am - 5pm but vary on occasion. Full-time employees are eligible for medical, dental, life and AD&D, long-term and short-term disability insurance. SPS Companies, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
