About the Role Redhorse transforms the way government uses data and technology. To support this mission, we are seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to serve as the lead architect and steward of our client's most critical data assets. In this role, you will be responsible for the entire database lifecycle—from analyzing complex information needs to designing secure, high-performance storage solutions. You will ensure that data flows seamlessly and securely across the enterprise, providing the reliable foundation necessary for advanced analytics and informed decision-making at the highest levels of government. Key Responsibilities * Analyze complex database requirements for assigned projects to ensure alignment with mission objectives. * Determine information needs and elements, including database relationships, attributes, and proposed data manipulation. * Design and map data flow and storage requirements to optimize system performance and reliability. * Define and evaluate data output and reporting capabilities to meet stakeholder needs. * Coordinate and lead the maintenance and modification of large-scale Database Management Systems (DBMS). * Test and implement database changes or entirely new database designs within production environments. * Write detailed logical and physical database descriptions, including location, space, access methods, and security requirements. * Provide technical direction and guidance to programmers and analysts to affect necessary changes to the DBMS. * Serve as the primary subject matter expert to provide answers to complex database questions from across the organization. * Monitor database performance and health to proactively identify and resolve potential bottlenecks. * Analyze and organize data structures while applying new technology designs and programs to modernize legacy systems. Required Experience/Clearance * Active TS/SCI with Polygraph * Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. * 8+ years of experience in database administration and information system design. * Proven expertise in analyzing and determining data relationships and attributes for large-scale systems. * Extensive experience in writing both logical and physical database descriptions. * Demonstrated ability to monitor and optimize complex database environments using industry-standard tools. Desired Experience We encourage all candidates who meet the basic requirements to apply, even if you do not have any of the following experience: * Experience with cloud-based database services such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or Databricks. * Familiarity with NoSQL databases and big data processing frameworks like Apache Spark. * Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies and tools like Jira and GitLab. * Experience with database automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for database provisioning. * Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, or AWS Certified Database – Specialty. $140,000 - $160,000 a year The salary range provided for this position represents the anticipated base salary for successful candidates. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, security clearance level, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may participate in Redhorse's comprehensive benefits programs and may be eligible for performance-based or other incentive compensation, where applicable.
