Job description

Role: Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Location: St. Paul, MN - (Must Reside is St. Paul area to be considered) - Onsite role 

Description of Project

A state government IT division is seeking a full-time Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to provide advanced database administration services across multiple agencies with competing priorities. The resource will be responsible for supporting modernization efforts, building and maintaining database environments, and ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of Oracle databases.

Responsibilities / Sample Tasks

  • Support implementation of system modernization initiatives.
  • Develop, configure, and maintain new and existing Oracle database environments.
  • Support concurrent code development and deployment cycles, including QA, performance/load testing, troubleshooting, and training.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure modernization efforts are accurate and completed on time.
  • Design, establish, and maintain database structures, views, and ensure data integrity.
  • Evaluate, plan, install, test, and maintain vendor software and hardware products supporting Oracle database environments.
  • Conduct database deployments and implement new environments as required.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate daily DBA tasks.
  • Provide database support for developers, Tier II help desk, user security, and system administrators.
  • Triage and resolve break/fix incidents and help desk tickets.
  • Serve as DBA for state- and federally-funded projects requiring database support.
  • Troubleshoot complex Oracle database issues and provide root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with IT disciplines (QA, BA, Development, Project Management) on Oracle database projects.
  • Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to internal staff.

Qualifications

  • Advanced/Expert experience in Oracle Database Administration (design, tuning, upgrades, backup/recovery, high availability, etc.).
  • Advanced/Expert experience with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python, PL/SQL).
  • Advanced/Expert experience with IBM Rational Change and Configuration Management (CCM).
  • Proven ability to identify, troubleshoot, and remediate database security audit findings.
  • Strong background in planning, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level technology solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with QA, business analysis, and testing teams to support performance/load testing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting Oracle database issues and performance optimization.
