Full Time (1.0 FTE, 80 hours every pay period)
8-hour varied shifts (rotating all shifts), two weekends per month

Job Description:
The Behavioral Health Admissions Specialist understands and supports the philosophy and policies and procedures of Aspirus Health. Works collaboratively to produce, nurture and sustain a professional practice and healthy work environment that affords and enhances patient care effectiveness and efficiency through leadership to multidisciplinary teams, effective physician relationships and a shared vision and dedication to the future of Aspirus Health. This person has accountability for the day-to-day functions regarding behavioral health patient placement across the Aspirus Health System.
The Behavioral Health Admissions Specialist will function out of the inpatient behavioral health unit/s providing critical and timely assessments, communication, and successfully guiding referring facilities to the appropriate physician. The specialist must be able to adjust through a rapidly changing environment. The Behavioral Health Admissions Specialist will manage multiple responsibilities, including transfer logistics for patients being transferred within and out of the Aspirus system. This role will play a significant part in ensuring adequate acceptance or disposition planning for behavioral health patients into our health system, and compliance with EMTALA regulations.
Experience/Qualifications:
  • Required: Knowledge of patient care standards and practices is normally acquired through completion of a nursing program or behavioral health program Associate's degree.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree.
  • Required: Three years of experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Required: Possesses an active Wisconsin RN nursing license or behavioral health related license. Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
