Job description

We are seeking an Enterprise Architect (SDLC) to join Zions Bancorporation. As an Enterprise Architect focused on SDLC, you will be instrumental in designing how we work in systems and together to deliver and manage technology, and the visibility of these system and process architectures. You will be responsible for defining and ensuring the alignment of system, software, development, and delivery lifecycle processes within the technology organization's business strategy and objectives. This role involves defining and managing architectural patterns for practices, processes, systems, tool recommendations, and data integrations which ensure a continually effective and efficient delivery lifecycle. You will guide IT teams with the adoption of those patterns and practices, receive their feedback, and meet both functional and non-functional requirements and partner with our technology risk team on definition and design for metrics and measurement across these lifecycles.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and Govern Solution Architecture:
    • Develop and document architecture content for specific stakeholder audiences to enable business or organizational outcomes.
      Address the needs and concerns of business and organizational stakeholders, producing corresponding functional and non-functional requirements.
    • Ensure the solution architecture work products capture architecture concerns and decisions and are presented to project and architecture review boards.
    • Work with partners across organizational boundaries, processes, and systems to design and implement integrated, traceable, measureable, efficient workflow and systems.
  • System Design Activities:
    • Gather and analyze system requirements, including understanding the system's purpose, functionality, performance expectations, constraints, and user needs.
    • Define the high-level structure and organization of the system, identifying major components, their responsibilities, and interactions.
    • Decompose the system into smaller subsystems or modules, specifying interfaces and functionality.
    • Design individual components or modules, specifying internal structure, algorithms, and data structures.
    • Design data structures and databases, defining data schema, relationships, and access mechanisms.
  • Architecture Governance:
    • Ensure solution architecture alignment to the enterprise architecture blueprint.
    • Review and approve EA artifacts such as reference architecture, patterns, standards, and solution architectures.
    • Participate in Lean Portfolio Management and Agile Release Trains, utilizing the Solution Architect role.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Partner with the EA team to ensure architecture standards, guidelines, and procedures are followed.
    • Provide architecture support on individual technology solutions and significant design changes to in-flight projects and initiatives.
    • Promote awareness of cross-functional activities, best practices, new standards, emerging technologies, defined processes, and decisions.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in enterprise delivery process architecture, with a focus on SDLC.
  • Familiarity with TOGAF and other industry frameworks.
  • Strong understanding and experience with/in key IT operational domains (Engineering, Ops, ITSM, PMO, QA, Dev, Security, Risk, Change, Architecture)
  • Strong understanding of software and system development or change methodologies, processes, and tools.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise operational system lifecycles, processes, and tools.
  • Excellent communication, influence, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to document and present architecture content effectively.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, and 8+ years of directly related experience. A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.

Work Location:
This position has a hybrid work from home schedule with a minimum of three days per week in the office at the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.
The Zions Technology Center is a 400,000-square-foot technology campus in Midvale, Utah. Located on the former Sharon Steel Mill superfund site, the sustainably built campus is the company's primary technology and operations center.
