SUMMARY: Responsible for providing visual field testing.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. HOURS: 8:30am-5:30pm
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. One to two years ophthalmology/ optometry group experience preferred. CPR certification required and COA required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification and current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association certification required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job's purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable. Note: (other duties may be assigned, deleted or changed at any time, at the discretion of management, formally, or informally, either verbally or in writing).
1.Ensure chart readiness prior to patient visit.
2.Neutralize patient's glasses and set prescription into Field Analyzer.
3.Instruct patients on and administer visual field tests. Record information in patient's chart.
4.Complete charting and ensure doctor has seen results and discussed abnormal results with patient. Conduct follow-up with patient if results are normal, and schedule return appointments.
5.Complete patient charge tickets. Enter ICD-9 Code based on physician's diagnosis.
6.Occasional filing and/or follow-up tracking of lab and x-ray reports.
7.Maintain COA and BLS certification.
