Job description

Core Operations Technician, Data Center — Bring a Brand-New Facility to Life

Reno, NV | Full-Time | $50 – $62/hour DOE + annual bonus | Relocation assistance available

The Opportunity

Most technicians inherit someone else's facility. Here, you'll help start one up. Our client — a leading data center developer/operator launching a new Reno campus — is hiring Core Operations Technicians to join at the best possible moment: commissioning and startup of a next-generation facility featuring cutting-edge liquid cooling. You'll work shoulder to shoulder with manufacturers, commissioning agents, and industry experts as the site comes online, then run it. If you're mechanically and electrically minded and love hands-on, mission-critical work, this is a career-defining entry point.

Why You'll Love It

  • Startup experience few techs ever get: Commissioning, energization, and turnover of a new build
  • Next-gen technology: Hands-on with liquid cooling infrastructure most of the industry hasn't touched yet
  • Serious compensation: $50–$62/hr plus performance bonus, with 5% swing and 15% graveyard differentials once 24/7 operations begin
  • Full package: Medical, dental, vision, HSA/FSA, 401(k) with company contribution, company-paid life and disability, PTO, education assistance, relocation help — and Nevada has no state income tax

What You'll Do

  • Participate in commissioning, startup, and turnover of critical electrical and mechanical systems
  • Support equipment energization, functional testing, load transfers, and system validation
  • Perform daily facility rounds and critical infrastructure inspections
  • Help develop and refine operating and emergency response procedures
  • Operate and maintain liquid cooling systems and related infrastructure
  • Monitor facility environmental, power, and cooling conditions
  • Oversee vendor and contractor work; track maintenance in CMMS
  • Support client deployments and decommissioning involving power and cooling

What You'll Bring

  • 2–7 years supporting critical infrastructure systems
  • Strong electrical background: switchgear, UPS, generators, ATS/STS, LOTO procedures
  • Mechanical systems experience: chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, pumps, VFDs, BAS
  • Ability to read one-lines, schematics, P&IDs, and equipment manuals
  • Strong communication and an uncompromising commitment to safety
  • Preferred: HVAC/refrigeration troubleshooting, mission-critical or data center experience, commissioning/startup background, OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, First Aid/CPR
  • Backgrounds welcome from: electrical, HVAC, industrial maintenance, power generation, manufacturing, critical facilities, healthcare, hospitality, or data centers

Schedule: Monday–Friday days during commissioning, transitioning to 24/7 shift operations as the facility reaches readiness. Active construction environment; PPE required in designated areas.

Start the facility. Own the facility. Apply now.
