Job Summary
The Business Performance Analyst partners with Operations leadership to improve financial performance, operational effectiveness, and data-driven decision-making across the Materials and Construction divisions, including quarry, hot mix asphalt plant, paving, and surface treatment operations.
This role translates financial and operational data into actionable insights that support business strategy, capital investments, pricing, resource planning, profitability improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will bring strong financial acumen, analytical curiosity, and the ability to partner with Operations, Finance, Sales, Procurement, Equipment, IT, and other stakeholders to develop scalable reporting, forecasting, and business intelligence solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Business Partnership
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Operations leadership by providing financial and operational insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to identify opportunities for revenue growth, margin expansion, cost reduction, and productivity improvements.
  • Serve as the voice of the business by translating operational and financial requirements into technology-enabled reporting and decision-support solutions.
  • Influence business decisions through data-driven recommendations and proactive identification of risks and opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional discussions regarding business performance, operational trends, and strategic initiatives.

Financial & Operational Analysis
  • Own the analysis and reporting of key operational and financial performance metrics across business units.
  • Develop financial models to support capital investments, pricing strategies, acquisitions, resource planning, and business development initiatives.
  • Conduct profitability analyses by customer, product, project, market, and business segment.
  • Perform root cause analysis on operational and financial variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.

Performance Management
  • Develop and maintain KPI scorecards and executive dashboards that provide visibility into operational performance and financial outcomes.

  • Participate in ERP, business intelligence, and digital transformation initiatives by helping define business requirements, testing solutions, and driving user adoption.

Data Governance & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure integrity, consistency, and accuracy of financial and operational data through validation, reconciliation, and governance processes.
  • Establish and maintain reporting standards, documentation, and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline business processes through automation, reporting enhancements, and improved analytical tools.

Position Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 4-7+ years of experience in FP&A, business analytics, operational finance, business intelligence, or strategic analysis roles.
  • Experience supporting operational business units in quarry, hot mix asphalt plant, paving, surface treatment, construction materials, manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments preferred.
  • Experience partnering directly with senior leadership and operational stakeholders.

Technical Skills
  • Experience working with reporting, business intelligence, analytics, or ERP systems. Ability to learn new technologies and partner effectively with technical resources to develop reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Understanding of how data, systems, and business processes interact to support reporting and decision-making. Ability to work collaboratively with IT teams to improve data availability, reporting capabilities, and process automation.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, data modeling, and analytics best practices.
