Job description

OverviewStandex Engraving, a leading and established provider of engraving/texturing services globally, is seeking an experienced and results oriented Assistant Plant Manager for its Windsor, Ontario location.  Reporting to the site General Manager, the Assistant Plant Manager will be instrumental in building a high-performance team while driving continuous improvement.Essential Duties:
  • Under the direction of the General Manager, oversees plant operations, including job completion, quality, safety, maintenance, and logistics, to achieve operational, financial, and productivity goals.
  • Schedules and coordinates processes to ensure production targets and customer deadlines are met.
  • Leads, coaches, and develops department leads and supervisors, fostering a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.  Ensures performance management and recognition for site team members timely and effectively.
  • Reviews site performance indicators and data, and recommend process optimization strategies.
  • With the General Manager, supports management of the P&L, operating within budget and identifying opportunities for cost savings while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures proper staffing levels and schedules.  Working closely with the GM, tracks and approves paid time off, hours worked, and provides input and support in personnel matters including interviewing, hiring, development, training, performance management.
  • Drive proactive actions to foster employee engagement and ensure a respectful, ethical work environment.
  • Communicates effectively with customers, upper management, and internal teams regarding production timing, quality, and delivery.  Partners with GM to lead monthly all hands meetings.
  • Models company policies and values, promotes a positive work environment.  Champions safety and quality initiatives, culture surveys, and recognition programs
  • Miscellaneous duties in support of successful business operation.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Engineering, business or related field preferred (experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
  • 3-5+ years of operational management experience in an industrial environment, automotive industry preferred, with knowledge of injection molding manufacturing process and tooling desired.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Proactive approach, ability to prioritize and act with a sense of urgency.
  • Proficient and comfortable leading critical conversations and developing improvement plans as needed
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and production management software.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and travel locally as required.
