Position Summary

The Event Operations Manager will supervise, coordinate, lead, and participate in all matters of facility operations, including but not limited to daily maintenance, event set-ups, changeovers, event coverage, and assisting in custodial services.

This role pays an annual salary of $50,000 - $52,000

This position will remain open until December 4, 2026.

About the Venue

Located on Indiana University of Pennsylvania's campus, the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex is a state-of-the-art venue offering a variety of meeting, banquet, consumer show, and entertainment options.

While owned by Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), IUP selected Oak View Group to manage the daily operations of the Kovalchick Complex. Oak View Group (OVG) is the global leader in live experience venue development, management, premium hospitality services, and 360-degree solutions for a collection of world-class owned venues and a client roster of arenas, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise the custodial needs of the facility.
  • Manage and supervise the setup and operational needs of the facility.
  • Oversee preventive and regular maintenance for all facility-related equipment, HVAC, lighting, and plumbing.
  • Maintains the building to OVG standards.
  • Maintain storage areas and equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Maintain safe, secure, and sanitary working conditions and leave the work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Manages and supervises outside contractors/third-party vendors.
  • Ensures facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures are enforced and adhered to.
  • Monitor the compliance of standard operating procedures.
  • Manage and participate in day-to-day operations of the facility.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty for office and event hours coverage as required.
  • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients.
  • Assist Director of Sportscenter with event coverage and client access to the building.
  • Periodically conducts an inventory of all equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain custodial supplies inventory and usage. Coordinate supply purchase needs with Director of Operations.
  • Maintain all building equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Make recommendations for Capital purchases related to areas of functional responsibility.
  • Assist in Operations and Events budget planning.
  • Trains part-time and/or temporary employees in orientation to the building, proper cleaning techniques and schedules, usage and conservation of supplies, operation of equipment, and safety practices.
  • Ensure employees have the equipment and resources to perform the job efficiently.
  • Maintain employee paperwork including attendance, payroll, disciplinary procedures, etc.
  • Conduct staff briefing meetings prior to each shift in order to review and/or distribute work assignments to appropriate personnel to accurately and efficiently set up, maintain, and tear down events.
  • Assist in establishing and monitoring work performance and safety standards.
  • Inspects completed set-ups, changeovers, and custodial services for conformance to standards.
  • Work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
  • Responsible for insuring that all daily and periodic tasks are completed as scheduled and according to specified quality standards.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3-5+ years of experience performing facility operations in a sports/events venue is required.
  • Experience overseeing and managing staff in performance of conversions and custodial services.
  • Working knowledge of operations equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, staging, retractable seating risers, basketball floors, etc.
  • Working knowledge of custodial equipment, including floor scrubbers and buffers, backpack vacuums, shop vacs, court cleaning equipment, and other equipment.
  • Working knowledge of facility and arena operations, changeovers, setups, maintenance, and custodial services.
  • Capable of working nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as additional hours when needed.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and function in a high-pressure environment.
  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified within 3 months of start date.
