Overview

Marine Operations Manager (BMSS-2026-25977-F):

Bowhead seeks a Marine Operations Manager ย to be responsible for direct management of the technical and non-technical staff for Marine Operations with an emphasis on small boat maintenance and operation. The qualified candidate will provide leadership to Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and support personnel.

Responsibilities

Job duties will include but are not limited to:ย 

  • Providing Program Management on multiple contracts and/or task orders under a contract.
  • Serving as the primary technical customer contact for assigned contracts.
  • Responsible for supervising the contract assigned contract workforce including hiring, firing, salary and performance management.ย 
  • Aligning opportunities with company capabilities and competencies.
  • Developing and maintaining strong business relationships with key personnel and decision makers.
  • Arranging and coordinating capability presentations and briefs.
  • Developing new relationships and leveraging existing relationships with decision makers to develop opportunity pipelines.
  • Participating in meetings, briefs, shows, presentations, and conferences.
  • Preparing and supporting Capture Plans and providing support on various Logistics and Marine Group Proposals.
  • Traveling to various locations to participate in informational meetings regarding proposals and current contracts, meet with customers and key personnel and provide on-site leadership as necessary.
  • Develop, implement, and apply management controls to ensure task and deliverables comply with customer requirements.
  • Validate technical and financial reports, analyze metrics, identify areas for improvement, and develop corrective action solutions that meet operational goals.
  • Conduct program meetings, reviews, and coordinate briefings with customers and senior management.
  • Ability to organize project and task workloads and selects individuals most qualified on for specific projects.
  • Lead business development processes such as identification, qualification, capture, and proposal activities, including defining win strategies, identifying competitive discriminators, technical proposal writing, and basis of estimate activities.
  • ย Oversees budget of the assigned unit within a division.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of marine operations and maritime experience OR a Bachelors of Science Degree in Management, Marine Transportation or Engineering and the equivalent of five (5) years of relative experience.ย  Navy small boat operations and maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand and respond to any concerns in a timely manner and be proactive, actively engaged in all aspects of operations.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage projects at various geographic locations
  • A PMP certification is not required, but will be given consideration

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.ย  US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
