JOB POSTING WINDOW:

There is 1 Operations Manager job opening, and this opportunity will be posted until April 30, 2026, unless extended due to not being filled or a change in business needs.

Compensation: Annual Base Salary of $115,000 - $130,000 plus 10% Discretionary Bonus

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position is assigned to our Donegal Construction NY location and is responsible for managing and coordinating services delivered by their assigned entity. Key responsibilities include project management, scheduling, quality control, recruiting and management of operational employees. Directly responsible for expanding our capabilities in the region and ensuring construction activities meet the needs of our customers and produce the quality of work that SurfaceCycle is known for.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Act as a closely engaged partner to effectively oversee aspects of operations and effectively guide, direct and advise operational members (i.e., Superintendents / Supervisors).
  • Ensure staff members are operating efficiently and resources are allocated in a productive, efficient and profitable manner.
  • Be willing, able, and available to assist operational personnel in handling urgent job issues as they arise – supply and implement solutions at a moment’s notice.
  • Maintain clear understanding of current job costs, production rates, and profitability.
  • Maintain a constant awareness of material supply chain on projects; proactively assist in prevention of bottle necks and issues associated with material purchasing and delivery.
  • Ensure maximum level of quality is attained by all crews on every job.
  • Provide consistent and effective communication with customers/owners and ensure relationships are constantly developed and nurtured.
  • Partner with General Manager and HR member to be highly engaged in personnel related matters – recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, promotions, discipline, training and terminations.
  • Effectively work with assigned in-house safety members to ensure continuous improvement of safety and risk management programs.
  • Partner with assigned safety members to ensure implementation of safety policies and procedures; develop and sponsor a positive safety culture among all employees.
  • Effectively manage relationships with partners, vendors, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Understand upcoming bid opportunities and participate in review process as needed; collaborate with team and offer expertise and advice to help develop strategy.
  • Ensure that existing communication lines are clearly established and/or modified to provide maximum communication between all relevant employees, customers, and owner agencies.
  • Maintain a constant awareness of material supply chain on projects; proactively assist in prevention of bottle necks and issues associated with material purchasing and delivery.
  • Participate in major purchases including equipment sales / disposals.
  • Have a solid understanding of all software applications utilized.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • A minimum of 7 years of commercial/civil/highway construction experience with at least 3 years of management experience in a high-performing operationally intensive organization.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience; CDL preferred.
  • Proven experience effectively developing relationships with all internal and external stakeholder
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees, customers, inspectors at all levels in a construction environment.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, excellent critical thinking skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to prioritize among competing duties/projects.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively balance the completion of administration duties while also demonstrating effective leadership skills (player-coach concept).
  • Demonstrated skills in persuasion and consensus-building coupled with effective negotiation skills.
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce, varying personalities and a multi-site environment.
  • Flexible, dependable, confident and accountable.
  • Ability to travel to job sites spread across the region.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Occasionally works in an indoor office relatively free from environmental conditions or hazards.
  • Use of office equipment and computers.
  • Occasional lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.
  • Must tolerate working environment with outside temperatures that include excessive heat, cold, wind, and precipitation.
  • Must be able to work outside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and twist body.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to use both hands and demonstrate good hand-eye coordination.
  • Tolerance to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Potentially exposed to contaminants, such as dust or fumes from exhaust; frequent exposure to hazardous equipment.
  • Occasionally work in very bright or very dim lighting conditions.
  • Are sometimes exposed to hazardous situations that produce cuts or minor burns.
  • Occasionally are exposed to whole body vibration, such as when using a jackhammer.
  • May need to work in tight/confined spaces or work areas.
  • Must be able to regularly wear personal protective equipment, including hard hats, safety goggles, safety vests and/or ear plugs.
