Job description

Job Description:
The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Closure Systems International injection molding machinery. This includes, but is not limited to, Netstal, Engel, Husky, and Roboshot equipment.
The Injection Mold Technician will be responsible for ensuring all injection molding machinery operates efficiently and remains running with minimal downtime or major deficiencies. The role will focus on troubleshooting, maintenance, operational performance, and supporting overall production reliability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Primary mechanical function for injection molding, tooling rebuilding:
    1. Mechanical repair of equipment
    2. Preventative maintenance on all injection molding equipment
    3. Equipment problem solving/trouble shooting
    4. Tooling rebuilds ( if required)
    5. Mechanical duties/assignments as directed
  2. Position requires experience and skill in electrical, hydraulic, mechanical areas, and general facility grounds and equipment.
  3. Working knowledge of machine tool operations such as; drill press, hose crimper, volt meters, amp meters, thermocouple calibration unit, micrometers, calipers, scales, levels, etc.
  4. Preferred experience with plastics injection molding equipment
  5. Trouble shoot programmable controllers
  6. Trouble shoot equipment with CNC pneumatics and hydraulic control
  7. Installs wiring, make adjustment to & calibrates machines
  8. Takes work orders out of maintenance system and completes in a timely manner
  9. Completes or assists in parts requisitions in maintenance system with correct part numbers and vendors
  10. Ensures all safety and LOTO procedures are followed; must follow all safety procedures and requirements.
  11. Responsible for parts inventory for Injection Molding Machinery.
  12. Preventative maintenance on equipment and adheres to published standards. Basic PM inspections and properly complete required paperwork.
  13. Ensure that the supply chain is made aware of their food safety obligations as our partner in the quest to deliver a safe product to the consuming public.
  14. Understand the principles of customer satisfaction, and meet those needs both internally and externally through appropriate written and verbal communication, positive team communication, and positive problem solving to enhance business results. Positive conflict management and team skills are required to work within CSI's team-oriented environment.
  15. Attention to detail is a critical factor in successful performance of this job. The incumbent must be able to focus on details for long periods of time and perform their position according to written working standards and procedures.
  16. Position requires the certification to operate mobile equipment. The certification process requires passing a physical, drug screen, and forklift training class.
  17. Responsible for minimizing waste and preventing pollution to protect the environment.
  18. Analyzes causes of minor problems on molding machines.
  19. Installs water hoses, shielding, an auxiliary equipment.
  20. Understands and troubleshoots material loading system.
  21. Must be able to shut down, pull runner, and restart molding machines and perform these tasks efficiently with minimum downtime.
  22. Performs color changes efficiently to minimize downtime, scrap, and avoid customer complaints.
  23. Must be able to perform a thorough daily machine check in a timely manner.
  24. Perform a daily material check.
  25. Understand all machine gauges, timers, and controls.
  26. Checks machines thoroughly before approaching Supervisor or Technician.
  27. Keep Supervisor informed of all problems during the shift.
  28. Salvages parts and raw materials to reduce waste.
  29. Communication: must work closely with Supervisor, Technician and fellow employees.
  30. May only make adjustments on molding machines (within setup sheet parameters) when instructed to do so by a Supervisor or Technician.
  31. LOTO (Lock out, Tag out) Training is required; must follow all safety procedures and requirements.
  32. Be aware and understand emergency procedures.
  33. Must be able to access and navigate all required training topics in Safety, Quality, Communication page, Monday Reports, IFE/IFO reporting and Job Ob reporting per schedule
  34. The position requires the employee to be trained in the use of walk behind type lifts. The employee must pass both a written and driving test.
  35. The position requires use of a computer/computer screen, accurate data entry, and keyboarding/mouse skills. Visual acuity is required to read box labels overhead for inventory accuracy.
  36. Physical activities described below are required of this position.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Educational and Other Skills Requirements:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Must have three to five year's experience from apprenticeship or job training programs is considered best entry in this position.
  • Must have basic math skills, spatial perception, mechanical principles and technical knowledge to visualize arrangement and relationships of static or moving parts and assemblies represented in blueprints and diagrams
  • Background / Experience with Injection Molding machinery is a must to be considered for this position.
  • -Locate and find information on an electronic data base of controlled documents, procedures, training, etc.; ability to focus on details for long periods of time; internal and external customer service is required
  • -Teamwork, positive communication with others, and team problem solving are required. Written communication must follow CSI standards and values. This position requires frequent verbal and written communication with all employees and management at the facility. In some cases, the position may require communication with other employees in other departments.

Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts-rotate from day to nights on a monthly basis- on 4 days off 4 days.
Work Shift: 12-hour shift, with occasional voluntary or mandatory overtime
