Job description

Business Operations Manager – Brown’s Tree Service
Location: Topeka, Kansas | Full-Time

Brown’s Tree Service is looking for a strong, highly organized Business Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operations of our growing tree service and storm-response company.
This is not a sit-behind-a-desk position. We need someone who can keep crews, equipment, scheduling, jobs, paperwork, and communication moving — and who is comfortable holding people accountable.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Manage daily business and field operations
  • Coordinate scheduling of crews, equipment, trucks, and jobs
  • Make sure crews are properly staffed and prepared each day
  • Track job progress, production, hours, and completion
  • Monitor daily and weekly revenue/productivity goals
  • Work closely with owners, sales staff, field supervisors, and office personnel
  • Coordinate equipment availability, maintenance, repairs, and downtime
  • Identify scheduling or operational problems before they become expensive problems

  • Verify timekeeping, job information, and field paperwork
  • Help control overtime, labor costs, equipment costs, and unnecessary downtime
  • Ensure completed work is communicated to the office for billing
  • Help coordinate storm-response deployments and mobilization when needed
  • Maintain clear communication between the office and field
  • Develop and enforce systems, procedures, and accountability
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, employee performance, and disciplinary issues
  • Keep ownership informed of problems, priorities, and company performance

We’re Looking for Someone Who:
  • Is extremely organized and detail-oriented
  • Can manage multiple crews and priorities at the same time
  • Is comfortable making decisions and solving problems
  • Follows through — every time

  • Can hold employees accountable while maintaining professionalism
  • Understands that labor, equipment downtime, and poor scheduling cost money
  • Is comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, scheduling software, and reports
  • Communicates clearly with both field employees and management
  • Can work in a fast-paced environment where plans sometimes change quickly
  • Takes ownership instead of waiting to be told what to do
  • Is willing to learn the tree-care and storm-response industry
Preferred Experience
Experience in tree service, construction, utilities, excavation, trucking, landscaping, field services, fleet management, or another crew-based operation is strongly preferred.
Management or operations experience involving multiple employees, crews, vehicles, or jobs is a major plus.
What Success Looks Like
The right person will make Brown’s Tree Service run more efficiently, more consistently, and more profitably.
At the end of the day, we should know:
  • Where every crew worked
  • What every crew produced
  • What equipment was used
  • Whether jobs stayed on schedule
  • What problems need addressed
  • What was completed and ready to bill
  • What tomorrow’s crews are doing
We are looking for someone who sees a problem and handles it, not someone who simply reports that there is a problem.
About Brown’s Tree Service
Brown’s Tree Service is a growing Topeka-area company providing professional tree services and large-scale storm-response services. We operate multiple crews and specialized equipment and need an operations leader who can help us continue growing without sacrificing organization, accountability, or profitability.

Position: Business Operations Manager

To Apply: Submit your resume along with a brief explanation of your management/operations experience and why you believe you would be a good fit for Brown’s Tree Service.
