We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager in Salt Lake City to lead our talented CIAM team. This team is responsible for our Customer Identity and Access Management platform, a critical system that provides secure identity and access management services for customer-facing business applications.

As the Engineering Manager, you will be at the heart of innovation at Zions Bancorporation, guiding a team of skilled engineers dedicated to modernizing Zions' key banking applications. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of excellence, driving technical strategy, and ensuring the delivery of scalable, high-quality, and innovative solutions for our teams and customers.

What you will do:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, fostering their professional growth and managing team performance.
  • Direct the design, development, and maintenance of the CIAM platform, ensuring its reliability, security, and scalability.
  • A good portion of this role will be hands-on programming with your engineers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including product managers, business analysts, and IT leadership, to define the technical roadmap and strategy for the CIAM platform.
  • Champion Agile and DevOps principles to streamline development processes and improve team efficiency.
  • Oversee the technical analysis, development, and implementation of new features and capabilities.
  • Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, ensuring the team meets its commitments.
  • Guide the team in troubleshooting complex technical issues and provide leadership during incident response.
  • Promote and enforce best practices in software development, including secure coding standards, source code management, and automated testing.
  • Communicate team progress, risks, and successes to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of delivering complex, large-scale systems.
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, with a passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent.
  • Strong technical background with knowledge of identity and access management (IAM) principles and technologies (e.g., Ping/ForgeRock, SAML, SSO, OIDC/OAuth).
  • Solid understanding of modern software development languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, JavaScript), cloud computing, and containerization.
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile development methodologies and leading engineering teams in an Agile environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • Proven ability to navigate an environment with changing priorities and to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.

Location:

This position has an onsite schedule with all days in the office at the new Zions Technology Center in Midvale, UT.

The Zions Technology Center is a 400,000-square-foot technology campus in Midvale, Utah.
