Job description

Job Title: Operations Industrial Engineer Supervisor Who We Are: USCS is driven to advance, innovate and serve companies seeking the best service, facilities, and logistics in the cold chain. We are employee focused, an equal employment opportunity employer and would love to have you join our team.   The Job Details: The Operations Industrial Engineer Supervisor will assume the responsibility for developing engineered labor standards for the LMS (Labor Management System) This individual will be responsible for leading work measurement studies in the warehouses, developing labor standards for employees, and overseeing the implementation of efficient distribution and order fulfillment process improvements.  This individual must have a sound knowledge of the distribution process, and the use of technology-based solutions to increase productivity, quality, and service levels. Also, this position requires that the individual possesses the abilities to train all levels of employees on preferred methods, and to direct employees to the completion of tasks.  The Operations Industrial Engineer Supervisor must have the ability to analyze operational processes, document prospective solutions, and present these solutions to upper management personnel.
  • Prepare and update engineered labor standards to represent preferred methods established for warehouse positions
  • Maintain map and work elements in labor management system.
  • Monitor labor management system to ensure system performance and data integrity.
  • Ensure appropriate levels of training compliance with proper work methods by employees to perform tasks.
  • Work with CI manager to develop strategies for continuous improvement operations.
  • Manage indirect time of warehouse employees at the facility.
  • Ensure facility design and racking layouts support optimal operations, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage observation studies and perform observations on employees when in progressive discipline.
  • Oversee implementation of process change, develop metrics to evaluate that the process is being followed and that it brings value to the organization, analyze the distribution processes and identify areas of opportunity for improvement, and develop new methods/tools to improve the processes.
  • Document and resolve quality issues and determine cause and effect items within distribution processes.
  • Develop metrics that must be monitored to ensure organizational compliance with processes for quality and productivity and ensure that appropriate action plans are developed to bring out of compliance areas back into a proper process.
  • Develop and provide instructional classes/presentations to associates at all levels in labor standards applications and in process changes.
  • Audit incentive programs for accuracy of measurement.
  • Assist in developing annual expense and capital budgets for the warehouses.  Evaluate, document, and develop ROI on capital requests.
  • Lead project initiatives throughout the organization.  Develop appropriate project plans, and lead teams to project completion.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.
 The Job Specifics:
  • Location, Department and Work Hours:  Lebanon, IN/Operations/8am-5pm Monday-Friday
  • Reports To:  Industrial Engineering Manager
  • Travel Amount: 10%-15%

 What We Are Looking For:Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree or better
Experience
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Knowledge of labor standards
  • Ability to travel throughout the year up to or greater than 50%
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Ability to schedule own tasks and handle all facets of assigned projects independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with Labor Management Standards (MOST or MSD) preferred

  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Be able to see, speak and hear
  • Work longer hours as needed
  • May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities.

  • Follow safety procedures at all times.

  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through appropriate channels.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions.
  • Follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.
  • Participate in Safety and Educational Training.
