Job description

Title: AI Implementation Lead
Pay Rate: $95,000 - $110,000 annually DOE
Location: Portland, OR / On-site
Type: Full Time
About Vital AI Labs
Vital AI Labs is our sibling company who builds AI systems for clients - and we prove them first across our own operating companies. Our parent company, Vital Enterprises, spans technology, staffing, manufacturing, and professional services. It gives us something most AI consultancies don't have: real businesses with real operational problems where we can build, break, and validate our approach before we put it in front of a client. When we tell a customer something works, it's because we've already run it ourselves.
We're small, we move fast, and the work is real. Nobody here is writing strategy decks.
About the Role
We are seeking an AI Implementation Lead to drive AI transformation initiatives across multiple business units. This role combines hands-on technical development with organizational influence, helping teams adopt AI-first thinking while rapidly building impactful AI-powered solutions that create measurable business value.
What you will be doing:
  • Develop AI-powered applications, automations, and internal tools using frontier AI models and modern AI development platforms.
  • Rapidly prototype and deploy solutions that solve real business problems across multiple business units.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into existing business systems, workflows, databases, and APIs.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to identify high-impact AI opportunities and transformation initiatives.
  • Deliver AI training sessions, resources, and educational content to support organization-wide adoption.
  • Present AI concepts and implementation strategies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Document project outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations for future AI initiatives.
  • Continuously refine AI implementation strategies based on business needs and results.

About You
You are a technically strong software engineer with deep experience building production-ready solutions and a passion for helping organizations rethink how work gets done through AI. You thrive in fast-paced environments where you can balance hands-on development, strategic thinking, and communication with diverse stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong understanding of system design, debugging, performance optimization, and production support.
  • Demonstrated experience building and shipping AI-powered products or applications that can be reviewed through portfolios, repositories, or deployed solutions.
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding tools and agentic development workflows, including structuring prompts, reviewing outputs, testing, and iteration.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, move quickly, and iterate based on feedback.
  • Business-minded approach with the ability to identify opportunities where AI can create operational value.
  • Comfortable balancing technical execution with strategic conversations and organizational collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading enterprise AI transformation or organizational change initiatives.
  • Background supporting multiple industries or business units.
  • Experience designing multi-agent AI workflows, orchestration systems, or context engineering frameworks.
  • Track record of influencing organizational culture or driving operational innovation.
  • Experience working with AI platforms such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or custom agent frameworks.

Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the US. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment Visas.
