Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Product Strategy & Operations Executive (Consumer)

Sector: Financial Services
Location: Lagos / Nigeria
Department: Consumer Business

Reports to: Head Consumer Business

Level: Mid-Level Executive

Type: Full-time

Work mode: Hybrid

About Us

Paga is on a mission to enable one billion Africans and millions of SMEs to pay, preserve hard-earned income, participate in global trade, and purchase goods and services at home and abroad. We have built a multicurrency, cloud-based payments and financial services engine that leverages multiple business services built on the same best-in-class infrastructure to serve the ecosystem through three businesses: Paga Engine (Enterprise B2B - www.pagaengine.com); Paga (Consumer - www.paga.com); and Doroki (SME Retail - www.doroki.com). Paga has three licenses with the Central Bank of Nigeria: mobile money, international remittance, and a microfinance bank. Paga is headquartered in the United Kingdom and has operating entities in Nigeria, the United States, and Ethiopia. Founded in 2009, Paga now serves millions of users and businesses across Africa and beyond.

We're a fast-growing consumer fintech company on a mission to transform how people in emerging markets manage, move, and grow their money. Our product serves an increasingly global user base, with deep roots in Nigeria, and we're now expanding both our reach and our impact.

To support this growth, we're looking for a Product Strategy & Operations Executive (Consumer) to help us identify high-impact opportunities and lead cross-functional initiatives that drive user engagement and revenue growth.

About the Role

We are looking for a hyper-analytical, execution-focused Product Strategy and Operations Lead. This is a high-impact, hybrid role that sits at the intersection of Product Operations and Commercial Strategy.

Your primary mandate is simple: optimise our core product mechanics to drive revenue and scale user growth. You will bridge the gap between engineering, marketing, and finance to eliminate conversion friction, maximise unit economics, and scale revenue across our operating markets. If you love deep-diving into data, navigating the mechanics of fintech infrastructure, and executing cross-functional strategies in a fast-paced environment, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

  • Optimise the Growth Funnel: Own the core metrics for user acquisition, activation, retention and revenue. You will relentlessly audit and streamline our onboarding, KYC/AML verification, and transaction funnels to slash drop-off rates.
  • Drive Revenue & Unit Economics: Analyse and optimise our core margins. You will manage card interchange splits, SaaS vendor costs (BaaS, KYC providers), and service provider fees to prevent margin leakage.
  • Execute Feature GTM: Design the blueprint for feature rollouts, partnering with product engineering, Growth and marketing to launch monetisation levers, such as premium subscription tiers, reward ecosystems, micro-lending, or yield products. You'll ensure Frontline Operations, Customer Care, and Risk teams are thoroughly trained, documented, and prepared for every product release.
  • Weaponise Market Intelligence: Conduct ongoing, rigorous competitor analysis. Track competitor features, fee structures, and reward programs to rapidly adjust our own product positioning.
  • Feedback Loop Management: Establish a seamless pipeline to aggregate, prioritise, and triage qualitative user feedback from Customer Support, App Store reviews, and social media into actionable product inputs; produce the weekly insights pack.
  • Build the Data Foundation: Design, track, and report on critical company health metrics, including Activation Rates, ARPU (Average Revenue Per User), CAC, and LTV. Beyond reporting, you will run customer cohort and LTV analyses and identify the most valuable acquisition channels and segments.

Who You Are

  • Experienced: You have 4 - 7 years of experience in a fast-scaling fintech/financial services or high-growth consumer tech startup - ideally in a strategy, business operations, or growth role.
  • Fintech Literate: You understand the core infrastructure of digital banking, including core banking systems (BaaS), card issuance networks, and payment rails.
  • Analytical & Data-Driven: You possess advanced analytical skills. SQL proficiency is required; you know how to query data to find funnel leaks and build financial models.
  • An Owner: In a lean team, you don't wait for permission. You are highly comfortable with ambiguity, possess a strong bias for action, and prioritise speed over perfection.
  • Cross-Functional Communicator: You can discuss API documentation with an engineer, compliance requirements with a legal lead, and margin optimisation with the CFO.
  • Organised: Strong project management skills with the ability to drive cross-functional execution.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with consumer products, mobile money, neobanks, or remittances
  • Experience working with global or remote teams.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory environment across EMEA (particularly Nigeria) and the US.

Why Join Us?

  • Join a mission-driven team building meaningful financial tools for underserved users
  • Play a leading role in shaping our growth in Nigeria, the US and the EMEA region
  • Work in a collaborative, agile, and impact-focused environment
  • Competitive compensation, meaningful equity, and growth opportunities

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity and inclusion. We do not discriminate on grounds of colour, race, nationality, religion, age, ethnic origin, disability, gender, marital status, or sexual orientation in our employment practices.
