Volunteer Executive Support / Operations Assistant

Organization: A Free Bird | 501(c)(3) Nonprofit

Location: Remote (NYC preferred)

Commitment: 5–10 hours per week | Flexible schedule

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Volunteer Executive Support / Operations Assistant to work closely with the leadership team. This role is perfect for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, executive support, and organizational management. You will help keep our operations running smoothly, assist with administrative tasks, and gain mentorship from experienced nonprofit leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Assist leadership with calendar management, scheduling, and coordinating meetings

Draft and proofread communications, emails, and internal documents

Support project coordination across departments, including HR, programs, and communications

Maintain digital files, records, and operational trackers in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office

Help plan and coordinate special initiatives, events, or volunteer projects

Conduct research and compile information to support decision-making

Collaborate with the team on process improvements and workflow organization

Qualifications

Interest in nonprofit operations, executive support, or arts administration

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
