About the Role

The Infrastructure Operations Engineer is an integral part of Latham's Technology & Information Services team. This role will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, support, and decommissioning of physical and virtual server and storage systems, ensuring that these platforms are consistently configured, secure, and reliable across the firm's global technology platform, while performing routine operational tasks, including system patching, upgrades, backups, and recovery testing, in line with firm policies and change management processes. This role will be located in our Las Vegas office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence. 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshooting complex infrastructure incidents and service requests, working closely with Design and Engineering Team and vendors to drive timely resolution and root cause analysis
  • Monitoring the health, performance, and capacity of infrastructure systems, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and service disruption
  • Supporting infrastructure lifecycle management, including hardware and software refreshes, migrations, and decommissioning, in accordance with firm standards and project timelines
  • Maintaining accurate and uptodate technical documentation, including standard operating procedures, system inventories, configuration records, and topology diagrams
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains 

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Demonstrate good knowledge of ITIL, ITSM, Problem Management, Service Management and Change Management frameworks
  • Possess the analytical skills needed to troubleshoot a variety of symptoms, diagnose problems, and test, recommend and implement solutions to technology problems
  • Exhibit well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm

And have:

  • ITIL Foundation
  • Bachelor's degree or Higher Education Diploma in Information Technology or related field; equivalent work experience can be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree
  • Microsoft Certification or equivalent experience, preferably
  • VMWare Certification (VCP) or equivalent experience, preferably
  • A minimum of seven (7) years' progressive computer systems management and support experience, preferably in a multi-site enterprise-scale environment, such as an international law firm or professional/financial services
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience of installing and maintaining Windows servers, including operating system installation, configuration, administration, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience of installing, maintaining, and supporting Enterprise server, storage and backup systems - in particular Dell servers, storage and backup systems; experience of Storage Area Networking, PURE Storage arrays, preferably
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience with Active Directory in a large multi-site Microsoft environment, including, but not limited to, understanding and supporting directory services, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policies
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience of installing, maintaining, and supporting high availability systems using VMware
  • Experience with VMWare NSX, vSAN and other vSphere supporting technologies
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience installing, maintaining, and supporting RHEL Linux and Kubernetes based systems
