Job description

Position Overview

The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach and athletic program by assisting with instruction, supervision, and program operations. Assistant Coaches contribute to the development of student-athletes by reinforcing team culture, teaching skills, and helping maintain a positive and disciplined environment. Assistant Coaches serve as important mentors and role models within the athletic community.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Girls Volleyball Coach essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Assists Head Coach in planning and conducting practices and competitions.
  • Provides instruction and feedback to student-athletes regarding skills, techniques, and strategy.
  • Helps supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team functions.
  • Supports and reinforces the standards, expectations, and philosophy of the athletic program.
  • Promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and positive character development.
  • Assists with equipment management, setup, and other program logistics.
  • Communicates professionally with athletes, coaches, parents, and school personnel as directed.
  • Helps monitor student-athlete conduct and academic accountability.
  • Maintains compliance with school policies and athletic regulations.
  • Fulfills additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Department.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the assigned sport and willingness to continue learning and developing as a coach.
  • Previous coaching or playing experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a coaching staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude, professionalism, and commitment to student-athlete development.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the school and athletic department.
  • CPR, AED, First Aid, and required certifications required.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks and compliance training.
