Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor reports directly to the Operations Manager. The Operations Supervisor will direct and supervise the changeover staff and workflow for all event changes. Assists in ensuring an effective and cost-efficient department while maintaining working with other departments to ensure facility readiness and smooth operation of events. 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $18.00 to $23.00.

About the Venue

Formerly the Casper Events Center, the venue was renamed to the Ford Wyoming Center in January 2021. The Center is a 28,000 square foot multi-purpose facility, built high on a hill overlooking the city of Casper, Casper Mountain, and the scenic Platte River Valley. Funded entirely by the City's portion of an optional 1% sales tax, the venue opened on April 17, 1982. The arena features a horseshoe-shaped seating bowl with 8,000 seats. The Ford Wyoming Center hosts a variety of different events each year, including concerts, sporting events, family shows, trade shows, competitions, religious services, bull riding competitions, commencement ceremonies, lectures, and political rallies, among other corporate and community events. The arena is host to the Wyoming High School Basketball, Volleyball, and Wrestling Tournaments, the Wyoming High School Art Symposium, Wyoming High School Marching Band Competition and Wyoming High School Spirit and Cheer Competition. The venue has been home of the College National Finals Rodeo each June since 2001.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading and directing small and large operations crews in accomplishing assigned functions. 
  • Responsible for keeping the facility at a presentable level of cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Operate and maintain all cleaning devices and other department equipment.
  • Responsible for complete facility changeover as required by the event schedule and facility guidelines. 
  • Assist with emergency repairs to arena equipment to ensure the success of a changeover. 
  • Performs craft services such as minor plumbing, minor electrical, minor carpentry, and painting. 
  • Make scheduled equipment rounds and logs pertinent operating data. 
  • Working knowledge of operations equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, staging, retractable seating risers, basketball courts, etc.
  • Keep accurate work logs of employees for time spent on various functions.
  • Manage changeover staff to accurately and efficiently set up and tear down events.
  • Follow written instructions.
  • Communicate between shifts the necessary tasks that still need to be completed.
  • Operate company vehicles, including utility vehicles (e.g., Gators), to support event operations, facility maintenance, and transportation of equipment and materials throughout the venue and on public roadways as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years' experience in an operations or facility coordination position in an arena, convention center, or public assembly facility, including event set up/breakdown, event coordination, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with direct employee supervision highly preferred.
  • High school diploma (or equivalent).
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and oral communication skills with the ability to function in a multitasking environment are vital.
  • Reliability is a must. Willing to work a flexible schedule, mainly nights, weekends, and extra hours as needed.
  • Forklift and aerial lift certifications are preferred or must be obtained once hired.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to multi-task under time limits.
  • Must have constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Able to lift, pull, hold, push, and move heavy objects.
  • Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
