What does it mean to be a part of the Operations Assistant team?
An Operations Assistant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the warehouse by ensuring that inventory is properly received, stored, and distributed. This role involves coordinating various warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, and stock management, to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This role works closely with warehouse staff and management to ensure that operational goals are met while maintaining accuracy, safety, and compliance with company policies. Our supply chain at UNFI is focused on providing superior service, quality and efficiency, improving every day to meet our customers' unique needs.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM start time
Pay: $18.00-$22.50 per hour
Job Responsibilities
  • Gathers, organizes, and distributes daily, weekly, & monthly reporting to appropriate departments in a timely and accurate manner
  • Gathers requests, complaints, and problems for the General Manager to address
  • Acts as contact for payroll team to gather needed information from Operations leadership
  • Prepares daily detail reports for managers with time and attendance data, to ensure timely and accurate information for payroll transmission
  • Monitors shipping supply inventory & ensure levels are maintained (partnering with Inventory Control & vendors)
  • Orders operations supplies & office supplies
  • Continually evaluates current processes, with GM guidance and adjusts, in line with efficiencies and cost reduction
  • Codes and processes invoices
  • Manages vendor logs and accrual spreadsheets
  • Books travel for warehouse associates as needed
  • Produces daily metric reports including department hours, shipped and received cases,
    replenishments
  • Prepares communications for the General Manager/leadership - including PowerPoint presentations, postings, bulletin boards, etc.
  • Attends manager weekly staff meeting and produces meeting notes
  • Coordinate and plans events, within budgetary guidelines, as necessary (e.g. NAO lunches, associate lunches, picnics, holiday party)
  • Acts as a backup for other clerical positions in the distribution center to cover unexpected absences and/or PTO
  • Performs other relevant job duties, based on local DC needs, and overall business need, as needed

Job Requirements
  • Associate degree preferred and/or related experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • 10 key skills
  • Prior warehouse clerical experience
  • Frequent walking, standing and lifting up to 35 pounds
  • Knowledge of warehousing functions
  • Understanding of warehouse equipment operations and safety issues
  • Detail oriented and excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced, warehouse environment
  • Excellent human relations skills required
  • Planning and organizational skills required
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available
