Exempt Description Job Title: Defense Red Switch Network Operations & Maintenance Tech Department/Unit: 55 SCS/STRACOM DRSN FLSA: Full-Time Exempt Location: Offutt AFB, NE Active TS/SCI government security clearance. Job Summary: The 55 Strategic Communication Squadron (SCS) Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician is directly responsible for the day-to-day operation of network switches, phones, and infrastructure. The O&M Technician administers DRSN hardware and software, troubleshoots and repairs equipment failures, reconfigures network assets, and maintains configuration control over assets. The O&M Technician also implements and modifies functions at the end-user level (e.g., assignment and control of user instruments, features, and telephone numbers). Essential Functions: * 5 years exprience in Information Technology and/or Internet Protocol Telephony skilsets.
* The O&M Technician provides on-site support to maintain, monitor and modify DRSN and its sub-systems for continuous operation IAW system specific manufacturer manuals, and current DoD and Air Force Instructions.
* Support the maintenance and monitoring activities, switch operation and administration, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, fault isolation, and service restoration.
* Conducts scheduled, unscheduled, preventive, and corrective maintenance.
* Provides database management of the systems to include subscriber add, moves, and deletes, database modification, report creation, printing, backup, restore, and purging of files.
* Generates and stores backups after major database modifications.
* Provide technical and operational support to end-user services, network expansions, and modernization of telecommunications backbone systems.
* Provide problem resolution for all hardware and software elements of the data communication circuits maintained by the work center to include Commercial and GFE owned networks.
* Performs installation support for Offutt DRSN requirements.
* Implements security controls, doctrine, and policies.
* Manages hardware and software IAW DISA and Raytheon technical manuals.
* Assists DRSN IA personnel on matters involving the Risk Management Framework (RMF), Assessment and Authorizations (A&A) and overall security of the DRSN system.
* Communicates with internal and client project team members. Assists team members regarding solution design, process and/or approaches.
* Must be able to work rotating shift schedules and or standby, if required.
* May be required to support short term CONUS travel.
* Perform other DRSN related responsibilities required by the 55 SCS.
Knowledge Skills and Experience: * Experience working telecommunications systems in a command center environment including a background in one or more of the following areas: Cryptographic Systems, Defense Red Switch Network, Tech Control, Command and Control Computer Systems, Nuclear Command and Control.
* Experience working with the following testing equipment: Tone Generator & Probe, VoIP tester, Scope, BERT / Bit Error Rate Tester, Multimeter.
* IAT-Level II Certification
* Active TS/SCI government security clearance.
* Ability to attend two-week DRSN DSS-2A training at JITC Ft. Huachuca, AZ
* Experience in a help-desk or customer support role
