MAKE A DIFFERENCE

The Heavy Haul Operations Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the Heavy Haul Division. This position is responsible for directing day-to-day operations, managing team performance, optimizing resources, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable heavy haul transportation services.

Scope of Opportunity:

  • Lead and oversee all Heavy Haul Division operations, including planning, directing, and controlling operational activities while ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable service delivery.
  • Engage in customer and business relationships, pricing strategies, equipment acquisitions, and operational performance to support business growth and exceptional customer service.
  • Drive fleet productivity and operational excellence by monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), analyzing trends, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Provide leadership and support to Fleet Managers and drivers, addressing day-to-day operational, productivity, training, service, financial, and compliance-related needs while resolving issues proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and safety standards, including oversight of drug testing, hours-of-service requirements, safety-related matters, investigations, corrective actions, and driver exit interviews.
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team by recruiting, hiring, onboarding, coaching, mentoring, managing performance, and fostering employee engagement and accountability.
  • Develop and execute departmental budgets and strategic plans, allocate resources effectively, supervise operational staff, enhance processes and tools, support company culture and core values, and perform additional duties as needed, including occasional travel and work outside normal business hours.

Skillset for Success:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, industry experience, and demonstrated success in transportation operations leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of the commercial transportation industry, including operations, logistics, fleet management, and transportation best practices.
  • Results-driven and business-minded leader with a proven ability to drive performance, maximize profitability, and achieve operational goals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly analytical and data-focused, with the ability to leverage metrics, identify trends, solve complex problems, and make informed business decisions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, with strong technology skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools.
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and organized professional who can effectively manage multiple priorities, navigate changing business demands, and work independently while maintaining attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams, deliver outstanding customer service, coach and develop employees, and contribute innovative ideas that drive continuous improvement.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Total cash compensation range of this position is $80,000 to $120,000.00 which includes a base salary range of $60,000.00 to $95,000.00 plus the opportunity for monthly performance incentives. Base salary offered is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, and geographic location as compared to others doing substantially similar work. In addition to the base salary, employees may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which can vary depending on individual and/or company performance.
