We are looking to add a key member to our Information Security Team!

The Security Operations Analyst I role supports daily security operations by monitoring systems, responding to security events reported by team members, or identified through internal or third-party systems, and assisting with investigations and security administration tasks. This role is hands on and operationally focused on executing defined security processes and supporting senior staff in protecting the organization's information assets.

The Analyst assists with the day-to-day operation of information security solutions designed to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of GreatAmerica information assets.

As a Security Operations Analyst, you will:

Security Solution Administration & Operations

Perform daily administrative tasks related to all in-scope information security solutions.

Assist with tuning existing security monitoring systems so that false alerts are minimized to provide both accurate and useful information for action.

Collect and maintain data needed to provide standard metrics to the Information Security Committee.

Participate in the development and maturity of security operations processes.

Assist with security control testing and verification.

Escalate identified issues in a timely manner.

Assist with vulnerability scanning operations and remediation tracking.

Validate patching status and basic configuration compliance.

Work closely with Product, Platform teams, IAM, and Infrastructure teams to support security initiatives.

Support and contribute to the overall company information security posture.

Create and update documentation on system functionality and processes.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Information Security industry, including awareness of new or updated security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors.

Information Security Incident Management

Perform daily operational real-time monitoring and analysis of security events from all in-scope information security solutions.

Monitor security alerts and dashboards across core security platforms.

Triage and escalate security alerts according to established procedures.

Support incident response activities including evidence collection, containment steps, and documentation.

Perform post-mortem analysis with logs, network traffic flows, and other recorded information to identify intrusions by unauthorized parties, as well as unauthorized activities of authorized users.

Maintain investigation records, timelines, and supporting artifacts.

Contribute to, create and update documentation on analysis procedures.

Provide related on-call emergency support.

Work extended hours during incidents when required

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Associate's or bachelors related to information security preferred or equivalent experience in information security system administration may be substituted for the requisite education.

  • 1-2 years of experience working in the information security or information technology field.

  • Exposure to NIST, FFIEC, or similar security frameworks

  • CompTIA Security+ (or obtain within 6 months of hire)

  • CompTIA Network+ preferred

  • CompTIA CySA+ preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in executing information security policies and standards.

  • Excellent knowledge of technology environments, including information security elements.

  • Exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsource systems.

  • Good understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities.

  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and Active Directory / Entra ID

  • Basic understanding of Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing)
