Job description

Job Description Our client, a leading underground utilities and civil infrastructure contractor in Ontario, is looking for a Project Coordinator / Estimator to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented construction professional who enjoys balancing estimating, project coordination, procurement, and operational support. You'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule while supporting field operations from tender through project completion.

Key Responsibilities Estimating & Bid Preparation Prepare quantity take-offs and accurate cost estimates from construction drawings and specifications. Assist with the preparation of competitive tenders, quotations, and project proposals. Source pricing from suppliers and subcontractors while evaluating quotations.

Review tender documents to identify project risks, exclusions, and scope gaps. Maintain estimating records and historical costing databases. Support project handovers following successful bid awards.

Project Coordination Coordinate project startup requirements, documentation, permits, and scheduling activities. Work closely with Project Managers and Site Supervisors to monitor project progress. Track purchase orders, subcontractor commitments, and material deliveries.

Assist with change orders, project cost tracking, and progress billing. Maintain organized and accurate project documentation. Serve as a liaison between operations, clients, suppliers, and field teams.

Procurement, Fleet & Operations Support Coordinate purchasing of construction materials, equipment rentals, and supplies. Verify deliveries and resolve supplier discrepancies. Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs for company vehicles, trailers, heavy equipment, and specialized construction machinery.

Monitor equipment inspections, certifications, registrations, and maintenance schedules. Manage equipment allocation between active projects. Maintain inventory of tools, consumables, and shop supplies.

Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and equipment utilization. Promote compliance with company safety policies and operational procedures. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in Project Coordination, Estimating, Construction Administration, or a similar role.

Previous experience within civil construction, underground utilities, infrastructure, or heavy construction is highly preferred. Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and tender documentation. Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience using estimating or project management software is considered an asset.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment. Valid driver's licence with the ability to visit project sites and suppliers when required.

Preferred Experience Experience or knowledge in any of the following areas would be highly advantageous: Directional drilling Hydrovac excavation Water and sewer construction Trenching Underground utility installations Fleet coordination and equipment management Working with municipalities, utility providers, or general contractors
