Job description

We are seeking a passionate, motivated, and organized Assistant Fitness Director to join our fitness team. This leadership role combines fitness management, team development, personal training, and group exercise instruction in a dynamic and community-focused environment.
The ideal candidate is an energetic leader who thrives in both administrative and hands-on fitness responsibilities while creating an exceptional experience for members and staff.
Position Responsibilities
Leadership & Administration
  • Assist in overseeing daily fitness department operations
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and supervision of fitness staff
  • Lead and manage the Group Exercise program and instructor team
  • Maintain class schedules and assist with program development
  • Ensure a high level of customer service and member engagement
  • Assist with fitness events, challenges, and member retention initiatives
  • Monitor cleanliness, safety, and organization of fitness spaces
  • Handle administrative tasks including reporting, communication, and scheduling

Group Exercise
  • Teach a minimum of 2 group exercise classes per week
  • Provide engaging, safe, and motivating instruction for members of all fitness levels
  • Support the growth and success of the group exercise program

Personal Training
  • Conduct fitness assessments and personal training sessions
  • Build and maintain a personal training client base
  • Design customized fitness programs to help clients achieve results
  • Promote personal training services and member wellness programs

Qualifications
  • Nationally recognized Personal Training certification required
  • Group Exercise certification preferred
  • CPR/AED certification required
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a fitness setting preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for health, fitness, and community engagement
  • Ability to motivate both staff and members in a positive and professional manner
