Job description

NOTE: THIS POSITION WILL BE BASED FULL-TIME IN OUR HOUSTON, TX OFFICE LOCATED AT 990 TOWN & COUNTRY BLVD.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Accountant, Operations Accounting reports to the Manager, Operations Accounting. This role requires in-depth knowledge of US GAAP, specifically for cost accounting and revenue (ASC 606), and experience in a SOX environment. Regular collaboration with other departments, including Project Accounting and Project Controls, is crucial to success in this position. The Senior Accountant, Operations Accounting also has accountability for preparing journal entries, performing project-level financial analyses, preparing account reconciliations, and supporting internal and external audit requests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepare monthly project-related journal entries, ensuring accurate coding under US GAAP (including ASC 606) and NuScale's Chart of Accounts.
  2. Responsible for monthly and ad hoc analysis of project-related cost and revenue accounting.
  3. Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliations for GL accounts and subsystems.
  4. Gather, organize, and process documentation for projects being performed across the company, maintaining a large data set. This will require regular collaboration with internal groups and clients.
  5. Successfully perform key Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls in areas such as Projects, Revenue, and Financial Close Management.
  6. Dedication to continuously improving accounting, reporting, and SOX processes, with ability to lead process improvement initiatives.
  7. Support financial statement audits, incurred cost audits, and internal audits.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related business field is required. An advanced degree and/or Certified Public Accountant, or Certified Management Accountant designation is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years of full-time accounting work experience is required. Must possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organization. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to work successfully on cross-functional teams, as well as independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives. Additional required or preferred skills are as follows:
    • General knowledge of US GAAP and SOX
    • Proficiency identifying and driving process improvement initiatives
    • Experience with Oracle ERP and EPM is not required, but is a plus
    • Ability to perform tasks independently, but also able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and stakeholders
  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits:

The target pay range for this position is $99,175 - $119,694 annually. The full pay range is $88,915 - $139,073 annually.
