Ponders Hollow Custom Wood Flooring & Millwork, Inc. is a family-owned business specializing in the manufacturing of high-quality wood flooring and architectural moulding products. With a reputation built on craftsmanship, integrity, and personalized service, we are looking for a driven and hands-on Operations Manager to join our team and take a leadership role in growing the business, and driving efficiencies.

Position Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall manufacturing process, along with direct personnel management. The Operations Manager is the direct report for the Production Manager, Moulder Operators and general laborers.The Operations Manager should bring new insight and innovation into the production process, with a goal to streamline and track production outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing management experience, with an emphasis on team leadership, data analysis and LEAN manufacturing principles
  • Excellent organizational skills, with high attention to detail
  • Must have excellent communication skills to lead the team
  • Monitor workflow on a daily basis, collaborating with the Production Manager
  • Analyze and identify workflow problems and assist colleagues in solving work related challenges
  • Demonstrate good judgment and decision making with the ability to analyze situations and present resolutions
  • A solid understanding of manufacturing, with technical knowledge

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with ownership and team members to implement new processes to improve quality and efficiency
  • Oversee shop organization and workflow efficiency
  • Gather critical data needed to present to team members in a clear and concise way, with a goal to resolve and improve any issues
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with ownership and colleagues
  • Delegate tasks when necessary
  • Interview, onboard and release personnel when necessary
  • Enforce OSHA safety standards (dust control, PPE, machine guarding)
  • Reduce workplace accidents and injuries
  • Conduct safety training and audits
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (dust, waste disposal)
  • Supervise and manage production staff and supervisors
  • Handle hiring, training, scheduling, and performance reviews
  • Promote a safe, productive, and accountable work culture
  • Address employee issues and enforce company policies
