KBFS has locations in Temple, TX; Crestview, FL; and Geneva, AL. KBFS currently holds certifications for CFR 14 141 (Flight Training) and 145 (Repair Station). In addition to its current commercial operations, KBFS provides contract aviation support to the Department of Defense, other US Federal Agencies, and US-approved Foreign Militaries and security organizations. The Sยณ/KBFS Crestview, FL International ISR Training Academy provides pilot, mission system operator, flying crew chief, and loadmaster qualification training in air-land, airdrop, and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission sets. KBFS Geneva provides Fixed Base Operations support for the Geneva Municipal Airport and is the recipient of the 2023 FAA Award for Airport Manager of the Year under Manager Bryan Pike. KBFS Temple provides Flight Training, Aircraft Maintenance, and Avionics support, and Commercial Aviation Operations.
Kachemak Bay Flying Service (KBFS) has an immediate opening for an Airport Operations Manager to support our operations in Geneva, AL.
Military experience is a plus. This is not a teleworking position.
The Airport Operations Manager is responsible for providing assigned airport services and for training and supervising subordinate personnel to accomplish and deliver advertised services to airport tenants (aircraft owners and other businesses) and transient aircraft. This individual develops and implements an airport services plan that reflects the city's long-range operations and growth strategy and establishes and maintain close coordination with Geneva City Council and other key community leaders and airport tenants to continually assess the needs of the airport and reports quarterly improvement recommendations and progress to the city.
The Manager ensures airport operations are conducted in accordance with FAA regulations as well as city policy, regulations, ordinances, and aerospace industry strategy. Duties include long-term development of refueling operations, general aviation maintenance, weather and flight planning, facility upkeep and improvements, establishment and oversight of fire/rescue services, sustainment and improvement of runway and taxiways, lighting, and communications.
Will also maintain the highest service standards and implement and ensure city processes and procedures are observed in all activities. Establishes an airport website to promote communications and business, and ensures safe and efficient operations to airport tenants and transient customers, and, promotes the FBO values, vision, guiding principles to create a positive team environment that raises the level of services for our customers, tenants, and employees.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepares FBO strategy and annual plans that reflect city overarching operations and growth strategy for aerospace services.
  • Staffs the FBO with experienced, highly trained aerospace and aircraft refueling professionals.
  • Trains, develops and coaches Line Service Technicians in accordance with established procedures including adherence to city policies, FAA regulations, and Corporate Quality Control Plan.
  • Recruits and interviews applicants for line service positions and completes new hire paperwork.
  • Completes performance reviews and disciplinary actions in a timely manner and within scheduled timelines established by the Corporate General Manager.
  • Maintains training records; works with leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory and company training requirements.
  • Develops services scheduling to ensure availability of key activity services from 0600-2400 hours daily Mon-Fri and Weekend hours - only when needed.
  • Coordinates Line Service Shift Leads to ensure all fuel QC inspections are performed correctly and staff is properly trained.
  • Procures equipment, supplies and other required items for the FBO within budget guidelines.
  • Communicates with the team any changes or additions to FBO or company guidelines.
  • Suggest ways to improve internal process and safety.
  • Supervises provision of line services that include marshaling, towing, fueling, aircraft services FOD control, etc.
  • Assists customers (passengers & pilots) with their needs to include luggage, ground transportation, accommodations, and any special requests.
  • Tracks inbound and outbound aircraft with customer service to ensure aircraft are handled without delay.
  • Assists Customer Service with answering phones, running credit card transactions, assisting passengers with rental cars and hotel reservations, ground transportation in FBO van, and placing catering orders.
  • Monitors weather forecasts and severe weather warnings; makes timely, appropriate decisions when adverse weather is approaching to ensure preparedness and safety of employees, customers, and aircraft.
  • Assists with after-hours support by providing limited scheduled onsite and on call schedule recall.
  • Assists with any other tasks as required by the city or corporate management.

Qualifications:
  • BS Degree in Business Administration or Aviation Management required with five (5) years of relevant airport operations experience. In lieu of degree, will accept High School Diploma or GED with 11 years of relevant airport operations experience.
  • Two (2) years' of experience in a job requiring customer relations skills.
  • Two (2) years' of experience working with the Microsoft suite of office tools with minimum proficiency level of at least 3 out of possible 5 (with 5 being the highest rating).
  • Two (2) years' of experience working a job that involved FAA certificated operations (e.g., Part 121 Airlines Operations, Part 141 flight training or Part 145 Repair Station) or the FAA itself.
  • Two (2) years' of experience as a manager of teams with at least 3 employees.
  • Experience managing an operation with responsible for upkeep and improvement of facilities.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Willing to submit to background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol prevention test.
