Job description

Launch your career in the growing data center industry as a Data Center Operations Intern in Quincy, WA! In this hands-on role, you’ll support customer remote services, assist with facility maintenance and system monitoring, and work alongside experienced operations technicians in a fast-paced data center environment. This opportunity is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented self-starter with strong communication skills, basic technical knowledge, and a desire to learn and grow in IT and data center operations.


The Data Center Operations Intern will support the Data Center Operations and Operations Center teams. These teams are responsible for customer and data center operations support. The Data Center Operations Intern will assist technicians with customer remote hands support and provide timely communication. This position will also assist the Data Center Operations Technicians with operational activities including basic preventative maintenance activities, cleaning critical spaces, and operating the building controls system. The Data Center Operations Intern reports to the Data Center Operations Engineer 2. The ideal person for this role will have a strong desire to start a career in the data center industry, be a self-starter and must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills. 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Assist with performing customer remote services, including: 
  • Remote hands services as requested by customers 
  • Timely customer communication 
  • Manage and document customer requests 
  • Provide customer reports as requested 
  • Assist Data Center Operations team with facility maintenance, including 
  • Clean and Maintain Critical HVAC Equipment in all weather conditions 
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on general facility equipment 
  • Maintain documentation associated with equipment maintenance 
  • Operations Center support: 
  • Uses monitoring applications in conjunction with ticketing systems to support customers and data center operations teams. 
  • Responsive interaction with operations teams for customer notifications. 
  • Continual observation and monitoring of data center systems. 
  • Provide support for a variety of projects within the data center. 
  • Follow documented processes and procedures and suggest changes and improvements. 
  • Leverage AI tools (e.g., GPTs, automation platforms) to streamline routine tasks such as summarizing documents, drafting correspondence, generating meeting notes, and maintaining engagement trackers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and operate a variety of hand and power tools  
  • Interface with technology and operate digital tools. 
  • Ability to work flexible support hours, overtime, nights, and weekends 
  • Adhere to Company information security policies and standards by safeguarding confidential data, protecting access credentials, completing all required trainings on time, and taking immediate action to report potential security threats or breaches. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School Diploma or GED required 
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools required 
  • Some experience/education in Information Technology (IT) preferred 

MINIMUM COMPETENCIES 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc. 
  • Ability to become proficient in other software.  
  • Demonstrated desire to continuously learn.  
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to maintain a strong focus on attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and closely follow instructions 
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn and utilize AI tools and technology
