A Brief Summary of This Position:

Valmont is seeking a Business Analyst Intern to join the Irrigation division.  The Business Analyst Intern is accountable for planning, supporting and launching efficient business and operations systems/processes. This includes gathering business requirements from product owners. You will apply proven communication, analytical, testing, and problem-solving skills to help create efficient and effective systems and processes.  You will have the ability to work well in a diverse team environment that has the aptitude to work with multiple teams across the world. 

Valmont’s internship program mission is to enable an emerging workforce to advance the success of Valmont’s global operations. We do this through recruiting and retaining top talent, opportunities for professional development and mentorship, and real-world projects alongside practical coaching.

This position is targeted to start in the fall semester.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with product owners to obtain business needs and translate into technical requirements
  • Support Ag IT Dealer Enablement team in delivering digital strategies
  • Partner with senior business analyst and assist on developing user stories for the team
  • Create process improvements by working with cross-functional team
  • Prepare process maps, user process training material,  design documentation, and other project related documentation 
  • Assist with quality analysis during testing cycles 
  • Collaborate with our core customers – Dealers, Growers, and Strategic accounts - to integrate cutting-edge digital solutions
  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions that align with business objectives and improve process efficiency

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate:

  • Junior or Senior standing with progress towards a bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Supply Chain/Operations, Business Intelligence & Analytics (BIA), FinTech, or other relevant field
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation 
  • Great communication skills and problem-solving skills 
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Agile methodology 
  • Coursework completion in information technology, management information systems, or other relevant courses
  • Interest in technology 
  • Experience in data visualization tools
  • Comfortable taking self-paced classes on the web 

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting.  The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings.    Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time.  No travel requirements for this position.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer.  The employee is occasionally required to move about the office.  Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
