Job description

Pulp/Utilities Shift Supervisor - Counce Mill

General Summary:    Supervise the operating personnel in the Woodyard, Pulping, and/or Power and Recovery areas and to monitor the operations in these areas.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years in the pulp and paper industry or related industry, demonstrated ability to be a supervisor and leader. 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Outlook.
  • Must have prior paper mill experience.

 

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities

  • Must exhibit excellent communication, analytical, organizational and computer skills.
  • Learn and understand the capabilities of supervised employees utilizing them and developing their abilities as necessary.
  • Learn and understand the Union Labor Agreement and administer it fairly and consistently.
  • Maintain complete, legible, and readily accessible documentation of work
  • Communicate the department status, process problems and safety concerns to the Area Managers, Operations Manager and primary Manufacturing/Technical Services/Engineering and others as necessary.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
    PCA's paper mills operate on a continuous basis - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.  Candidates for this position must be able to occasionally work long hours and all shifts. During annual outages, typically two times per year, for a duration of 7 consecutive days and during unscheduled shutdowns, all employees are scheduled to work 12-hour shifts.
