Job description

Position: Boat Division Personal Property Custodian

Type: Full-time

Location: Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek - Fort Story, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Travel: 10%

**Contingent Upon Award**

Position Summary: The Boat Division Personal Property Custodian is responsible for managing and maintaining accountability of all equipment, assets, and consumables assigned to the Boat Division within LOGSUPPU-2. This role ensures accurate tracking, documentation, and inventory of property to support Naval Special Warfare operational readiness. The position directly impacts mission success by ensuring assets are properly issued, tracked, and accounted for in accordance with Department of Defense standards and command requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process requests and maintain records for issue, turn-in, gain, and loss of property
  • Manage accountability for capital assets, minor property, and operational consumables (OPCON) assigned to the Boat Division
  • Conduct monthly, bi-annual, and annual inventories of equipment in SWALIS/DPAS systems
  • Investigate and process documentation for missing, lost, stolen, or damaged property
  • Ensure compliance with property accountability policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records and databases
  • Coordinate with command personnel to ensure proper asset tracking and reporting

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizen
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Must hold an active Secret Security Clearance
  • Minimum three (3) years of inventory management experience within Naval Special Warfare (NSW)
  • Managing capital assets, minor property, and operational consumables (OPCON)
  • Familiarity with SWALIS or Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) or similar inventory systems
  • Experience processing property accountability documentation
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Must accurately input and manage data across systems
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain installation access

Physical Ability to:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform inventory inspections
  • Ability to lift and move equipment associated with inventory operations
  • Ability to work in warehouse, dockside, or outdoor maritime environments
  • Ability to perform repetitive inventory and documentation tasks

Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
