What does an online stock trader do?

Online stock traders buy and sell stocks and other financial investments for their clients through a brokerage's proprietary trading platform. Unlike other stockbrokers who conduct business on the trading floor or through the phone, online stock traders make all financial transactions electronically through an electronic communication network (ECN), such as a virtual market place like NASDAQ or Globex. Etrading has grown over the last twenty years, and there are now many online trading platforms available to online stock traders. While the process of trading online is often seamless, online stock traders need to double check every transaction to make sure there are no glitches or errors.
