Primary Accountability
The Communications Specialist is responsible for performing marketing and communications-related duties on a professional level in specialized functional areas.
Description of Primary Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for curating content, including but not limited to network-wide internal and external communications, developing media relations, packaging turnkey content for distribution to all media outlets, and developing authentic still and automated marketing content.
    1. Responsible for developing all written content/copy for all FHCN communication platforms that align with the Network's communications objectives and goals.
    2. Responsible distribution of all public service announcements related to all FHCN-produced community health fairs and events.
    3. Responsible for populating FHCN-produced community health events on all media public event calendars.
    4. Responsible for developing strategic packaged turnkey stories to include soundbites, talking points, videography, still photography, and quotes, and delivering to prospective media outlets to gain earned media.
    5. Responsible for tracking and reporting all earned media content.
    6. Responsible for developing, executing, and overseeing all written communications, including press releases, press kits, specialized pitch letters, presentations, talking points, and digital stories.
    7. Responsible for researching and curating content for FHCN's website blog, working cross-functionally with Digital Marketing & Analytics Specialist and LocaliQ SEO team to ensure content includes relevant SEO keywords.
    8. Responsible for creative copy for all social media posts, infographics, print collateral, etc.
    9. Responsible for coordinating T.V. appearances, interviews, and developing talking points.
    10. Responsible for developing radio advertising scripts.
    11. Responsible for developing commercial videography storyboards and scripts.
    12. Responsible for New Provider Orientation communications related to Marketing and Public Relations.
    13. Responsible for managing a comprehensive list of media outlets and their contacts to build relationships with media personnel.
    14. Responsible for understanding and implementing FHCN voice for all curated content.
    15. Responsible for photography and Facebook live content to support network brand initiatives, newsletters, and social media.
  2. Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of FHCN health center hours, services, and special programs through various platforms.
    1. Responsible for maintaining accurate information as pertains to network services, specialized programs, network updates, history, and all other pertinent network information on all platforms, both public-facing and internal.
    2. Responsible for maintaining and correcting hours of operation and site-specific services on FHCN's website.
    3. Responsible for the accuracy of all business listings for each health center and administrative site.
    4. Responsible for continuous audits and updates of all FHCN collateral and digital content to ensure accuracy.
    5. Responsible for curating content, coordinating updates, and managing all health center monitors to promote marketing strategies and employee engagement specific to each market circle.
    6. Combines newsletter copy with design elements to produce internal and external newsletters.
  3. Responsible for all communications regarding online reviews from patients and past/current employees, and managing Family HealthCare Network's reputation.
    1. Responsible for conducting research and reporting on employment reviews from Indeed and Glassdoor using Reputation Management.
    2. Responsible for reviewing, tracking, and reporting negative reviews related to online reviews through the ARMs reporting system.
    3. Responsible for responding to online reviews, social media comments, and messages to gain additional patient feedback.
    4. Responsible for engaging with all social media comments to elevate social media engagement and authenticity.
  4. Responsible for adhering to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy, recognizing that regular attendance is considered an essential function of all FHCN positions. Absenteeism is not being at work or failing to attend a paid workshop, training, or event unless the absence is protected by law.
  5. Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location, both at the beginning of a shift or during a shift, based on business need.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Professional & Technical Knowledge:
Effective June 1, 2026, all individuals hired into the role must:
  1. Possesses specific advanced knowledge and skills, including written and verbal communication skills, computational, computer and technical skills, and mathematical knowledge frequently acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree with recognized significant or comparable experience.
  2. A combination of relevant experience and completion of a high school diploma with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, or General Educational Development (GED) with a minimum overall score of 162.5, and healthcare-related knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a trade school, para-professional, or certificate-type program.
  3. If an individual has completed a degree at a higher level than required by the role and had a stronger GPA in that program, they may provide proof of GPA from that degree in lieu of the high school diploma or Bachelor's degree.
  4. Three years of strong copywriting and content creation experience is required, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  5. Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  6. Is tolerant and understanding of last-minute objective/project redirects.
    1. Able to redirect goals unexpectedly upon objective change of priority.
    2. Able to maintain focus on complete objectives on deadline.
  7. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), CANVA, and OptiSign.

Technical Skills:
  1. Ability to prepare more complex documents in Microsoft Word, including creating tables, charts, graphs and other elements.
  2. Ability to use Microsoft Excel to review and compile data, including the use of formulas, functions, lookup tables and other standard spreadsheet elements.
  3. Ability to create advanced presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  4. Experience with multimedia and an extensive knowledge of art, design, photography, and video production, with applied use in marketing, are preferred.
  5. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment.

Licenses & Certifications: A valid CA driver's license is required.
Communications Skills:
  1. Job duties require compiling and analyzing information prepared in effective written form, including correspondence, reports, articles or other documentation.
  2. Effectively conveys technical information to non-technical audiences.
