Department of Health and Exercise Science

Position Summary
Misericordia University is seeking qualified Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduate courses in Exercise Science on a part‑time, semester‑by‑semester basis. We welcome dedicated educators who are committed to student learning, professional excellence, and supporting our mission of providing a values‑based education in the Mercy tradition.

Responsibilities
Adjunct faculty may be assigned lecture or lab courses in areas such as:

  • Exercise Physiology
  • Kinesiology & Biomechanics
  • Strength and Conditioning
  • Anatomy & Physiology (with lab, as appropriate)
  • Motor Behavior / Motor Learning
  • Fitness Assessment & Exercise Prescription
  • Health Promotion & Wellness

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Preparing course materials, syllabi, assessments, and lab activities aligned with departmental standards
  • Teaching in face‑to‑face or hybrid modalities, depending on departmental need
  • Providing timely, formative, and summative feedback to students
  • Maintaining accurate academic records, attendance, and grades
  • Supporting an inclusive, student‑centered learning environment
  • Collaborating with program faculty to ensure curricular consistency and accreditation standards

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated content knowledge in assigned teaching areas
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Misericordia University

Preferred Qualifications

  • Collegiate teaching experience (lecture and/or lab)
  • Relevant clinical or professional experience in exercise science, fitness, or health‑related fields
  • Professional certifications (e.g., ACSM‑EP, ACSM‑CEP, NSCA‑CSCS, NASM, ACE)
  • Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard) and technology‑enhanced instruction
  • Experience supervising undergraduate research or applied projects
