Medical Billing Coding Instructor Job Summary

Northwest Career College seeks a highly motivated individual who is passionate about mentorship and training to join its team of instructors. Applicants with strong verbal and written communication skills and at least two (with a diploma, degree, or certificate) to three years (without a diploma, degree, or certificate) of experience in the field are encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate is excited by the prospect of helping NCC's diverse student population achieve their professional goals but also enjoys the individual nature of administrative work, as there is a relatively even division between both types of responsibilities in this position.

Medical Billing Coding Instructor Roles and Responsibilities

  • Mentor students on professionalism expectations within the workplace.
  • Manage hands-on training activities for students in accordance with the NCC curriculum.
  • Provide feedback to students about how to improve their hands-on skills.
  • Grade student practical examinations.
  • Manage online classroom group discussions with students.
  • Grade student participation in online discussions and various other assignments.
  • Regularly review and respond to email correspondence with students and staff.
  • Participate in professional development in alignment with teaching assignments.
  • Participate in department meetings, faculty meetings, and in-service training sessions.
  • Attend graduation ceremonies and other events as required by the College.
  • Dress professionally in accordance with the faculty dress code.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Experience

  • REQUIRED In-field experience: 2-3 years

Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of two years of work experience in the medical billing & coding field (with diploma, degree, or certificate).
  • Must have a minimum of three years of work experience in the medical billing & coding field (WITHOUT diploma, degree, or certificate).
  • Successful completion of High School, its equivalent, or a state-authorized examination certificate is required.
  • Successful completion of a medical billing & coding field or diploma training program is preferred but not required.
  • Must be willing to take the CBCS exam if you are not certified
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current education methodologies and techniques

License/Certification

  • PREFERRED CBCS

  • REQUIRED HS Diploma or equivalent
